Maybe the muscles are leftovers from his swimming days? As he spent more time on the stage and less in the pool they must have atrophied.

Yeah you're right. Ten bucks says he was still swimming even when he got famous, but I still never got that heroin chic period. Besides, if he was using heroin, we would've found out a very long time ago.
