Default Which way will Florida go this election year?

Make your predicitons....

BTW, If the past governor's race is any indication, it may go either way....The 2002 election was the first BIG election after the whole Elian crisis, and Jeb won with a percentage of 70%....the key to Democrats taking Florida is to focus on the strong liberal groups in Miami, Borward, and Palm Beach, which include lots of heavy latinos (non-Cubans), Jewish (lol....lets not discuss 2000), and African American (especially Hatians, who are anti-Cuban).

I still think that depends on a lot of things.

Not necessarily who the Democratic candidate turns out to be, but also on whom he might choose as a running mate. If he were to pick a well-like Floridian (someone on TV mentioned Sen. Bob Graham), I'd say the chances of Florida going to the Dems would be much better.

Definitely could go either way.

Didn't Bush take 50% of the Latino vote in 2000?

Republican.

Those GOP schmucks Harris and Gov. Shrub will be campaigning non-stop for ChimpCo.

However, after the last debacle, it could go Democrat.

IMO Jeb Bush had no serious contender in his election. Conversely, the almost every current poll indicates the anti-Bush sentiment in the land is high and the D will have a strong (poll wise) contender between Kerry, Dean (if he recovers from the implosion and gets the nom. - the polls indicate he recovered somewhat in MA), Clark, and (possibly) Edwards. So, the cards are dealt a little different than in the gov. race.

Whatever the outcome, rest assured Florida's many electoral votes are a high priority item on both sides as they, unlike say NY, are up for grabs.

My $0.02

I'm crossing my fingers!

Dean won't get the nom, though, and he most certainly can't win MA!

PS: Who do you think Kerry will choose as his running mate if he gets the nom?

Edwards. I think Clark will be Sec. of State if he accepts it, etc.

Interestingly, John Breaux (S - D) from Louisiana's name has been tossed about. He is a centrist D and well like by both parties and in the South.

My mom is crossing her fingers that he chooses Kennedy. I told her it would never happen, but she said "It would be like we had Kennedy back, though!" She cracks me up.

Well, if they truly do not care about the South, Kennedy would be a good choice. But, because of the Chap. death, there is no way

Breaux?! I really can't see him as Kerry's running mate. I am all for centrist politicians on both sides, but Breaux votes with the Republicans half the time, so I just can't see Kerry picking him.
