This is definetly one of my favorite Lindsey songs. When I made a copy of Tusk on cd, I added Red Rover to it and it went along great with the album.

AND - at the PBS Soundstage, Brett Tuggle was doing the "Wampa wampa wampa" parts vocally.
It was VERY cool. The only thing was he sort of went into the guitar solo of ISA at the end. But, hey, it was genius anyway |

Dislike Red Rover??? We LOVE IT!!!
Red Rover is just a fantastic musical invention!
'Red Rover/Come On Over' is a street game kids play! ISA... goes back to the Beginning of Lindsey's solo work when he had to go home to N.CA. sick with mono.! It IS a Musical Beat Pulsing in Lindsey's Fingers and Blood!Sky

It was and still is my absolutely favourite song on the CD. It is a song that to me stands alone from the others. Its shape, pace and structure just seem so very different. As for Lindsey, I love the urgency and bitterness in his voice.

Christy,
I'm thinking due to all this positive feedback it's time to rethink the whole Red Rover controversey.

Well...
Perhaps I put this in the wrong forum. It should have gone in the Rumours forum as some peeps don't come to the LB Ledge. Ah well....continue the love!

I don't hate "Red Rover"... not by a long shot.
It's a good song, but it just leaves me feeling a tad underwhelmed. "Murrow," on the other hand, is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard... that song doesn't get near enough of the love and respect it deserves!

I seriously cannot see what's wrong about "Red Rover". It has all the elements I love in a song:
1º when you read the lyrics written down, as a poem, it works - it's a hell of a poem. Or at least what I understand as a poem; 2º it has a melodic line that's perfectly adapted to the message of the song; 3º it has adventurous musical arrangements; 4º it has great vocals How can anyone hate it. If it wasn't for "Say Goodbye" it would be my favorite song off Say You Will. And one of the best things Lindsey ever wrote IMHO. Song of the moment - Little "Eyes"

Its funny, I will put that song on repeat and listen to it like 20 times in a row. It's a great song really. I can't fathom why people don't like it, and I really try to, but it's so beautiful and his singing is great. I guess those are the same people who hate GYOW or like Street of Dreams. We just have to shrug our shoulders. LOL.

“red rover” in lindsey’s continuing intent on proving he’s multifaceted. it’s a sonic adventure. his soaring voice on “and the lips you were kissing night after night” is just right. selfish avant-guardism? NO WAY!

"Say Goodbye" is, quite possibly, one fo the most beautiful things I've ever heard. It's so lush and gorgeous. I would love for Lindsey to do it live, just sitting on a stool and doing it all by himself, no one else. It's fantastic.

AMEN!
That's a terrific idea, Diss!! I would kill to hear him do that one alone. I love the original solo version of SG.
