Oh My!!!!!! - it is a bit drab

Yet, LB's brilliance is there somewhere. It would be hard to hide, although this certainly makes a good effort

Worse than I feared. GYOW as badly done adult contemporary. I wish I could've seen the look on Lindsey's face when he got his copy of this gem.

I don't know. it was odd listening to that. The original GYOW is such a brutal combination of hurt and anger....but this new one sort of just makes you only feel the *hurt* and not the anger. Hard to explain. It was weird to hear Lindsey's angry words being sung in such a pansy-ish way LOL.

It starts off difficult to listen to cause of how used I am to the harder versions (FM studio/live and Cranberries), but it picks up in the chorus.
Thanks for the link! I was looking forward to hearing this.

Cool Alrighty

Listening to it right now...thanks for the link, Les.

Dang, it's so slow!! LOL I was expecting it to be fast. It would have been a pretty song, if it hadn't been GYOW. Does that make sense? I like the music, but those lyrics needs to be SCREAMED.

Lis, you took the words right out of my mouth. Of course, people that haven't experienced the song live and perhaps people that were never exposed to the original would think this version is good. I really don't like it...I need Lindsey; totally disgruntled, with his guitar

That was my reaction as well. And I must confess, it didn't send me into vomiting convulsions. I don't think it's that bad. Let's keep the artist in mind here. I was also pleased with the arrangement, which is very contemporary. I could have done without the strings, and instead used a classical guitar for the break or something like that, but I think it still kind of works. Oddly.

I'm sure it's not Lindsey's style at all. But on the bright side, if this becomes as popular as the Chicks' version of Landslide, that means some extra dough for our man Lindsey. Good for him.

Finally, I will add this: To me, this sounds fresher and more interesting than that by-the-book interpretation by the Cranberries.

I agree with CV and as Lis said, my first impression was the feeling of sadness and hurt. I think there will be a bunch of people who have never heard the original, (well, maybe a small bunch ) who might just love this angsty version. Lindsey's music is timeless. Wilson Phillips have a nice mellow sound.
