Default Any Jethro Tull fans out there?

My two fave LP's/CD's from Ian Anderson et al:
Songs from the Wood
Stormwatch.

I like his other stuff, but these two works appeal to the Celt/Pagan in me.

I used to like them way back in ... I dunno ... junior high. I bought MU & the MU songbook & I enjoyed playing Rainbow Blues or Bungle in the Jungle or Thick as a Brick. Remember the mention of Magritte in "Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll, Too Young to Die"?

I saw Jethro Tull with my older cousin at the Checkerdome in St. Louis in 1979, a few days after or before Fleetwood Mac played there on the Tusk Tour.

My fondness for Tull in the old days never really took hold permanently, probably because I'm essentially a pop-song baby, not an art-rock aficionado. I'm all about the three-minute pop songs laden with super-catchy hooks. That's always been my favorite commercial music.

If that's the Tull period you really like, then you need to get the Tull Christmas album. Entirely in the SFTW/Heavy Horses style. I've got over 100 X-Mas discs, but the last 2 years, the Tull disc has been #1 in my holiday rotation.

I'm not a major fan of Jethro Tull, but I just sang "Locomotive Breath" at a karaoke contest and I did damn well with it. I just sang "Aqualung" last night and I love doing it enough to say I "discovered" Jethro Tull for karaoke.
