Default Okay guys, I need your help

We started a new semester for all our classes today and I'm in speech. For our first speech we have to design a license plate with 7-8 letters or numbers and explain why you did that. I really wanted to do something with Stevie or Fleetwood Mac...But it also has to relate to me...It doesn't even have to be true, she'll never know . But yeah, do you guys have any ideas? I really couldn't think of anything...At first I wanted it to be STVI NIX...But you know I couldn't really talk for about 30 seconds on that...Please help!

The Nicksfix has a whole page of Stevie-inspired license plates -- just steal one.

Or, how about "NICKSFAN"? Simple and to-the-point...

Talking Try...

"NICKROX" (Pretty damn obvious dontcha think?) or "FMFRU12" (Fleetwood Mac Fan Are You One Too?)...Pretty self-explanatory if ya ask me (I loved speech class...Especially when we were allowed to write/produce our own scripts & plays. I ruled on that as I did with debating...Hehehehehe!!!)

I am deathly afraid of getting up infront of the class.

Those are actually good ideas, but what am I going to say about it for 30 seconds? LOL "I............love..................Stevie...............Nicks............."

Why don't ya make one out of your favorite Stevie song....like EDGEOF17 or something and talk about how the song relates to you?

Exclamation Egads!

I hated when speech days came. We had to give 2 during the semester. The rest of the time, was fine. LOL We videotaped our speeches to find out what type of things we needed to work on. I had a habit of pulling on my jacket sleeve cuff out of nervousness. I hardly looked up into the eyes of my audience out of sheer fear. No public speaking for me, thanks. I can barely talk to ONE person without getting nervous at some point. I'm very self-conscious.

5FRFLIES = 5 Fireflies (You can explain who the 5 Fireflies are)
SLNNFM = SLN (Stephanie Lynn Nicks) N FM

Have no fear only love
My MAJOR was Communications/Voice & Speech/Public Relations.
Wow, 30 seconds is challenging. They never made us do one THAT short.
My advice, just pretend that you're doing a commercial and for your actual idea, just do the first thing/idea that pops into your head - those are usually the best!
Good luck!

I'm sorry, but do you seriously mean to tell me you couldn't talk about Stevie for a mere 30 seconds - why you like her, how you first heard her music, what your favorite song/album is, how you're eagerly awaiting a new album (not to mention all the cool people at this place called The Ledge who help you with your homework)?

That's pretty sad, especially considering that my friends WISH I would keep my Stevie rants shorter than 30 seconds... And I'm not even one of the REALLY obsessed ones! (But yes, still pretty obsessed.)

Good luck -- and let us know how it goes!

I couldnt do it myself, Just 2, uh, "certain things" would stick out to distract me on that short lady, I doubt I would even look her straight in the face

I'm extremly self concious and I'm scared if I say the wrong thing about Stevie, people will think weirdly of me. I don't know. I just hate talking about that kinda stuff. I probably will get off on a tangent and talk for about 30 minutes...I could easily speak for 30 seconds, I'm just afraid of being up there TOO long! I'm perfectly fine talking to my friends about Fleetwood Mac. I've had people ask me if Stevie and Lindsey were married. I'm sure they wish they hadn't after I have them a very long talking to!

You could keep it simple with some of her accomplishments, ie, solo hits and hits with the band simultaneously, and maybe mention her distinctive, one of a kind, beautiful, never to be duplicated, awesome vocal quality...

I think Curtis has a cool idea and that's what I'd probably do, too. I might talk about how one of the songs has affected my life in a positive way and helped me through a difficult time. But I'm with you--those things can be nerve-wracking. But I'd be more comfortable knowing that I get to talk about Stevie, because she's an easy subject for me. I always want to tell people how wonderful she is. I'm sure you'll be great!

Just pick something and prepare and rehearse. Like someone said, ask yourself what Stevie topic you want to discuss and choose the first thing that comes to mind. Prepare and rehearse.

"People will think weirdly of me..." -- Who are they? They're no better than you. Besides, everyone already knows you're way cooler because you like Stevie Nicks! Plus, if you say something weird about Stevie, wouldn't they think *she's* the weird one?

But Suze has the best idea -- whatever you decide, PREPARE PREPARE PREPARE. Oh yeah, and that "picture them in their underwear" thing really does work sometimes, unless the topic is something ultra-serious or depressing. Or unless you're a hormonal teenage guy who gets turned on by someone in your class... (enuff said)
