So, ok. Carousel is allowed just like Circle Dance was allowed for Stevie's father.

Sounds like Vanessa is Bogarting. Um, Stevie seems to be saying stay the heck home for Christmas Vanessa, especially now that you're having a kid who will be crying all the time.

Michele
So,like,Vanessa just shows up at Stevie's door with luggage on Dec.23rd and says "guess who's coming to dinner"?Truly odd.And it's like Stevie is saying "It's great to see you but why are you here"?

So true.A hug can go a long, long way.I'm relieved to hear Stevie basically saying that she knows that some of the people around her(aka friends) are there b/c they have to be there.Maybe that's why she likes to chat with her audience so much - she knows we really care for her.

Apparently, there was another session today with Stevie DJing that had different selections of songs incl. Tunnel of Love (Springsteen), You Can't Fix This, Tangled Up In Blue (Dylan), Beautiful Day (U2), Magic (Coldplay), etc. Saw tweets about it, and apparently it'll be played again on Channel 28 tonight at 2am EST if you have a sirius xm subscription.

Was Circle Dance about Stevie's dad? I wouldn't assume so because the song paints a pic of a dad never around & their family seemed close knit. Or did he just like the song??

She never said it was about her dad, but when she was drawn to it, she knew she wouldn't have him for very much longer and since it was about a father/daughter relationship, I can imagine it was a type of tribute. It certainly felt like one, after he died.

Her comments about it weren't about her dad, though. Just:

Quote:
I love to do this song. Bonnie’s dad, John Raitt, was a big music guy, Broadway, and he would be gone a lot when Bonnie was growing up. And when you’re young, you don’t think ‘Oh, they have to work,’ you just think, ‘They’re gone and it’s my fault.’ You know, the words, ‘I’ll be home soon, that’s what you’d say, and a little kid believes/After a while I learned that love must be a thing that leaves.’ But when her father was older, there was a peace she found with him. And in many ways the song can be about a romantic relationship too, about letting go: ‘Time has made things clearer now.

I bump this thread up because Stevie's Iheart radio channel is back up and rerunning her 24K Special guest DJ show.

Here it is for those of you that missed the last round of her Iheart show.

Thank you so much for bumping up this thread. I didn't get a chance to listen to this the first time around last year, so I downloaded the whole thing, skipped through the songs and just listened to her commentary. I loved it! The YouTube video commentaries are missing about 4 songs, so I'm glad she got to speak about each song on 24KG for this iHeartradio project.

I LOVE her commentary on "IYWML" (her "Game Of Thrones" song! ) and the fact that she expounded a lot more on the SONG "24 Karat Gold" more so than the YouTube commentary or any printed interview.

But what made me bust out laughing was what she said about "The Dealer" - "I wasn’t just the dealer; I was also one of the card players. So I was in both roles, which probably makes absolutely no sense to anyone..."
