Best Documentary Feature: "Jesus Camp" - featuring Ted Haggard

I might actually *pray* for that to win.

She didn't get a nomination, did she? The award goes to the songwriters, not performers. On the list I saw: "Listen" from "Dreamgirls," Henry Krieger, Scott Cutler and Anne Preven. And I saw this article a few weeks ago:

Beyonce Disqualified for Oscar Songwriting Category?

The Envelope's Gold Derby reports that Beyonce Knowles was not qualified as a songwriter on the song "Listen" from the Dreamgirls film by the songwriting branch of the Oscars. What's known as Rule 16 of the Oscar's eligibility states that only 3 songwriters max can be credited for an Oscar-nominated song. In many interviews promoting the film (and in the credits itself), Beyonce has said that she was involved with writing the song. However, the Oscars are only recognizing Henry Krieger, Anne Preven and Scott Cutler for the song.
Word around the Net is that she tried her typical "I changed one note/word, so I get songwriting credit and royalties..." racket. There's even a feud going on between her and the guy (Ne-Yo?) who supposedly really wrote "Irreplaceable" or at least the majority of it, which Beyonce is claiming she did...

Typical lame ass nominations. What can you expect though? The average age of an academy voter is like 612. Not to take away from anyone's performance or anything, but their taste is highly questionable.

I'm convinced that Judi Dench could open a fortune cookie on camera and she would get nominated for an award. Apparently, the Brits do it better.

I wouldn't be surprised if Peter O'Toole wins, just for the Susan Lucci factor...
Heh... I read the Beyonce stuff on Perez and it's so true. I opened a mag today and there she is flashing her armpits again!

Okay, didn't know that, thanks. I thought the performing artist was included also. Either way, we will still have to sit through her performing it.

This set is the best. Has she not heard of clear gel deodorant?

For once, the Best Picture race is wide open. The only one I don't see winning is Letters from Iwo Jima, but I think the others have a shot. Right now, I'd say Babel, with Scorsese finally picking up his Best Director statue.

I'm quite sad that Volver ony received one nomination (the very deserving Penelope Cruz).

I'm starting to think Murphy won't win in Supporting. I am thinking they will give it Arkin.

Yes, she was but what Mirren did is a miracle of mimesis and Dench has already done that kind of part a zillion times in theater.

It doesn't really happen often that A 25 year old like Hudson steals a whole movie. The young lady is both exceptional both in the singing and in the acting. While Kikuchi is offering a very good performance in an irritating bath in Hollywood conventional way to speak about important issues.

Even though it doesn't happen this way, the award should be based on the specific role. The fact that Dench has played a similar part in theater should be irrelevant. Just like the fact that Peter O'Toole is old and never given an award should be irrelevant.

Helen Mirren was outstanding, but I think it is actually stronger acting to create a character than to mimic one. Either way, I will be happy, but I'm rooting for Dench.

I thought Kikuchi was riveting. But will not cry if Hudson wins.
