Default Madonna's fall of the stage keeps making me laugh

Though I've never been a Madonna fan. I still respect her and wish her no ill will. I remember seeing her make one of her first TV appearances on David Letterman. When he asked her what she wanted to do, she replied "I want to rule the world." To a certain extent she achieved that, but she wasn't part of my world. My only familiarity to her is through happenstance media transmits like her recent Grammy performance.

Now I'm obsessed with the brief clip of her taking a big tumble off the stage during her recent appearance on the televised Brit Awards show. She came out on a platform and sang the intro, wearing a lengthy cape. She approached a set of stairs that led to the front stage, where one of her dancers was situated to pull off the cape, in quick breakaway. Things didn't go as planned. The cape was too tightly attached, and when he pulled the cape Madonna went with it, flying off the platform and falling down onto the stage, losing her mike.

I always assumed that she lip-synched at these kind of events. It would have been very embarrassing if her voice was still heard while she was laying on the ground with her mike several feet away. The band played on, and the instant she fell, her voice went silent. But this proves she actually does sing live, but it does sound like it's being processed through something like auto-tune. I've played the clip dozens of time, and it elicits laughter every time. It was such an instant disaster. She could have been seriously injured. To her credit, she just brushed it off. What a pro! Good thing she keeps herself in good shape. But I bet she was feeling a little sore later on. I would like to see the entire performance, as well as the whole awards show. I have yet to find it online.

I saw almost the entire clip of the "living for Love" performance at my national tg, she has been very professional to step up right away and continue to perform, even if I have to say that she danced like she was really injured; she bopped like a rabbit around the stage. Poor Madonna, but she recovered magnificently.

I watched it once and can't bring myself to watch it again; I hate to see people falling, it makes me think they'll break their neck...
I'm not surprised Madonna handed it like the pro she is.

I watched it live. It was quite a fall but knowing Madonna I'm still a bit skeptical that it wasn't just a planned publicity stunt.

Kanye West helped to fuel his reputation as a bit of a d*ckhead earlier in the show.

Totally agree, I really hate him

Madonna really made me laugh, but also made me say "Ouch, that's gotta hurt"

Pretty good for her to get back up, I'm glad she's not hurt.

Every thing she does is calculated, the dancers not reacting should be a clue

Yep, and there's a decent chance she's going to get her first UK #1 since 2008 on the back of it. She's a smart cookie.

I'm thinking their ability to see clearly out of those masks/head things is somewhat obstructed. When the one dancer does move first to her aid, it's almost sideways (crablike) and my first thought was because he can't see clearly.
I agree, Madge is very calculating but I think this was a honest incident. My tailbone hurts every time I see it.
I don't know if she would be honored to know that people
think everything she does is calculated or aghast. lol

But not France. I can't paste it but she compared it to Nazi Germany in us weekly

I just read about this .Shes lucky she did not break her neck or crack her head open on the floor. She better go get her back checked out by her doctor. It looks like the dancer knocked her off stage since they were so close when she went off.I agree with Garbo .Those masks suck and impair your vision. That should of been checked out at the rehearsals.

This did not look like a stunt at all.

She didn't fall off the stage. She wasn't knocked off the stage. She was dragged off the stage. Her cape was supposed to be pulled off her, but instead, she went with it.

I'm not sure either way- but I really wouldn't put it past her.
The lyrics to the song;

Took me to heaven and let me fall down
Now that it's over
I'm gonna carry on
Lifted me up, and watched me stumble

It all fits in with the song.

She spent 2 days rehearsing the performance at the venue ahead of the BRIT awards. She'd have done that whole cape removal thing 50 times or more to ensure it was right.

She wasn't landing on a hard floor- it would have been a wooden stage- like one of those WWE wrestlers falling in a ring.

She didn't hit her head- her head was bent forwards the whole time to avoid the floor.

Her foot immediately went down to the second step so rather than falling from the top of the stage she only really fell back from the second step of four.

Her dancers were conveniently encircled around her at the bottom of the steps.

One of her dancers immediately straightens out her cape after she has fallen- as if its her job planned in advance to do that.

As I said, I'm not sure. If it wasn't planned then I'm glad she's okay. If it was a stunt then well done to her- it worked. Now, what sort of stunt could Stevie, Lindsey and co pull off in a similar vein?

I agree it didn't look like a stunt to me. Some people's imaginations really do run wild I don't think anyone would chose to be pulled by a cape, backwards, down a set of stairs, in front of millions of viewers

It is quite funny to watch. It wouldn't be if she'd badly hurt herself. The fact that the cape was involved, and it fitted so well with the words of the song, makes it even more amusing.
