Organ settings
Hello all,
We cover Go Your Own Way in my band and up until now I've been using the only organ patches on my keyboard. But now we have Native Instruments' B4 set up on a laptop, so I can use the real drawbar settings. The problem is, I have no idea what drawbar settings she's using. (For those who don't know, The Hammond B3/or similar has bars that you pull out at different lengths to get a particular sound) I have checked the DVD of The Dance but I haven't been able to see with good detail how far out the drawbars are pulled. If anyone has figured it out or have any clue to it, please let me know!

She uses patches for the Dance from her Yamaha. David might know the answer.

Uh, no, that's definitely not her Yamaha. It's her Hammond B3, you know, the huge organ that she has the Yamaha stacked on? :P
Besides, the Yamaha is just a MIDI controller. It has no onboard sounds. It's connected to MIDI modules and stuff in a rack. I'll try asking David though, thanks!

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I don't think she used an actual B3 on the Dance. I believe she used an acoustic Grand Piano and her Yamaha.

Oh ok, I thought you guys meant a full B3 (uncut) with foot pedals and all. I believe she used to play one as Steve Winwood still does. I didn't know that was a B3 shaped into her gear. thanks.

Here's a tidbit from Chris regarding her B3:
The B-3, the instrument she most frequently plays, has been portablized by Keyboard Products [2708 W. 7th St., Los Angeles, CA 90057]. Christine has no settings that she regularly favors. "I use the drawbars a lot; in fact, I don't think I've ever used anything else but the drawbars," she admits. "Sometimes I perk it up with a bit of percussion too. But I don't think there's any particular sound I do for every night. I try to get whatever sound suits the track best when we're recording, and I just look for something that sounds good when we're playing live." |

Here's a very old thread from here on the Ledge. It's kind of a history of Christine's keyboards through the years, thanks to David. It was so good I actually printed it out. I hope this helps a bit.

Well, I think I had seen that topic previously, but I did notice David saying that he plays the Roland VK-7 (B3 clone) in his Fleetwood Mac cover group. It's very likely he knows some of the drawbar settings!
I tried sending him a Private Message but he hasn't gotten back to me as of yet.

Well, I did find out he's not the same David as the David from ThrownDown... I sure confused him!
Guess I'll have to wait and hope he gets the PM.

Maybe that's even better. I'm not much of a fan of Roland products. If anything, I'd get a Korg BX-3 or CX-3, though the NEW Hammond B3 line is beautiful. Just so darned expensive! On eBay they're even more pricey.
