Default Rock n Roll Hall of Fame

I watch things like this and it makes me wonder again, why Stevie is not in the Hall of Fame solo yet.

I think she has a real chance of making it in. None of the other individual members of the group do, but she has been building an impressive body of music and doing largely exciting shows since 1981. Maybe after this upcoming studio album and tour...depends on what kind of splash she makes.

If she doesn't get in, I wouldn't be surprised, however. I think some of the RRHOF folks like to think of her only as the frontwoman of FM, as that girl who "went her own way" when she left her bandmate in 1976, as that wafish white witch who wrote and sang Rhiannon.

And don't forget that it's been turning into the Hall of Lame: they're just nominating Alice Cooper 16 years after he became eligible, haven't even considered Heart, and yet, let int Run-DMC (in what universe are they rock?)

As much as it would be great for her to get in as a solo artist as well, the R&RHOF isn't well known for inducting people twice both with their group & as a solo artist. There's very few who are.

Default How big is the deal with RRHOF?

I've been reading about the Hall of Fame, and I still wonder if it's big deal to be inducted, and how big it is.

One is glad to see his favorite band being inducted, like Fleetwood Mac in 1998. And if they weren't inducted, we surely would complain (like the controversy with Bob W. discussed in the Pre-Rumours forum). But, is there a before and after? Would be a "before and after" in the inducted career?

I mean, when I go to a concert I never hear or read an announcement like "the RRHoF inducted singer" Paul McCartney, or ...Elton John, Rod Stewart, etc.
Do they get better record contracts after being inducted? Or are they considered better artists?

However, comparing to Oscars, I do read in a movie ad "Academy Award Winner Matt Damon",, or "...Jack Nicholson", "..Jodie Foster", etc.

Ok, different concepts the Oscar and the Induction, but I still ask.. is it actually big deal? After reading that the nomination process is controlled by a few individuals who are not themselves musicians, and lack of transparency in the selection process... I don't know how serious or how valuable it is.
