The biggest complaint I have of Lindsey is his constant psychobabble as banter. Like, dude, just STFU and play. We don’t need a recap of what you discussed with your therapist. Did every tour have to be about healing or coming to terms with something? Just grab your crotch, tell the world The Eagles can suck it, and bang out IKINW. THAT’S how you do rock!

Some of you guys are talking about how compelling the two new guys might be in Fleetwood Mac. Mike Campbell is ace as the Heartbreakers guitarist, of course, but I can't talk about the other guy. However, I think Fleetwood Mac (or what's left of it) is going to blunt the appeal that these guys have historically. It happened in 1987 on tour. Vito and Burnette didn't sing lead on any new song from Tango (they could have easily done Big Love). I know they sang several Green songs (Oh Well, Rattlesnake Shake, I Loved Another Woman), and those were some of the high points. But in general, those two felt very underused on that tour. It was like half the band was the real deal, and half the band was the pickup band. Mick Fleetwood and Stevie are just as likely this year to underuse the new guys. You might go to the concert hoping for full-scale work from both of them, and come away disappointed at the band's inability or unwillingness to incorporate them fully into the stage show. You guys who love Neil Finn's past work are not going to hear it at the Fleetwood Mac concert. Don't kid yourselves. I can't imagine Mick deciding that old Crowded House songs should now be potentially incorporated into FM's storied sets. The new guys will unfortunately be treated on this tour like pickups.

I'd bet on more than one Stevie solo song, too.
After all, it is her band now.

the funny thing is, way back when Lindsey started doing his long monologues before songs, Stevie was mortified by it.... she thought minimal talking was how you do shows, and every time he'd launch into one of his intros she would stand over by Chris and sorta cringe, and her face was always "is he done now? now? uh, now??" Now for the last however many years she's up there doing endless ramblings.....even before the Ramblin' Stevie solo tour. Maybe it's another sign of their ongoing competitiveness, you know, "If he can talk, I can talk longer!"

As much as I love Stevie, I'm super annoyed with her for ruining the opportunity for a final Rumours five album. I was beyond thrilled when Christine came back and I wanted to hear that album more than I wanted to see the tour. After years of whining that she needed Christine back to do a new album, she gives a BS excuse that there is no point to recording new music because records no longer sell. Now Neil Finn says the band has been talking about recording new music, which will sell even less without Lindsey. It was always obvious that Lindsey was her real issue, but its still disappointing that such amazing opportunity to create new/final album was squandered. I'm happy Buckingham McVie was at least made. Last edited by Dreamz19; 05-07-2018 at 04:42 PM.. |

Stop painting it like it's a new band that you're excited to offer the fans. Luckily for Mick, he knows most of the fans don't care who plays in the band. They want hits. The promoters want hits. $tevie Nick$ will twirl, he'll make faces and they will do this all behind the mask. (pun intended). They will even package the blues FMac in there for the die hard that might be swayed. What's glaring to me.. and not mentioned often... Is the fact that they mentioned possibly recording with this line-up. That screams of $tevie's hatred of working with Buckingham. And of course her pointed comment about not playing pre-B/N tunes due to a certain member. (classless as usual $tevie) On a positive note: I'm glad we got BuckVie. I think it's an amazing little album. It demonstrated just how good the four instrumentalists are as a core, and as a team. The chemistry is still there and very tight. But at what cost. For those of you that believe $tevie was bothered by them doing this album, I agree 100%. There were a few quotes both from $tevie and McVie about her feelings on the album. Christine said something like, "I played it for her and she liked it." And then said something sarcastic. $tevie said she certainly didn't understand the premise. And went into her album $ales speech. And this is going to sound a bit crazy; but, I didn't see any excitement in Mick during the BuckVie documentary. I heard the words coming out his mouth about how amazing it was for those two to be recording together.. but my spidey sense detected he was a bit uncomfortable with it. I will say he and John sound amazing on the record. The more I listen to this record, the more I admire it's brevity and sparse arrangements. The vocals are superb and very pleasing to my ears. The two of them singing the chorus on Love Is Here To Stay still gives me old FM goose bumps. And even the cheesy Feel About You gets my judgey friends singing the chorus. I hope we see more of Lindsey Buckingham. He certainly led the charge in doing what wasn't expected of him. Putting his art before the almighty dollar. And as much as I loved As Long As You Follow and BTM. The wind from the classic line-up dried up eventually and we got the Time album and FMac was dying on the vine. Both financially and in terms of a band with chemistry. At least when LB came back, the nostolgia carried them into validity. And his songs on SYW minus WTWCT... are a bit daring.

I was all for them recording new music as a five, but SN squandered that opportunity. Now, 4 years on sad to say Christine's voice is completely shot (they have to mix her very low now) and Stevie has a 2 note nasal AF range. LB isn't any better and they should have done this tour and called it quits as a band. Poor Christine sounds like she has 40 teeth rolling around in her mouth when she talks now. NEW band? Please.

I just don't see new music coming out of FM--ship has sailed. I don't think they will release anything with the "All-Star" band. It doesn't feel like Mike and Neil are in it for the long haul---even though they said they were...what else are they going to say? I also thought I read somewhere on here--both of them (and Stevie) have commitments in the latter part of 2019.....or are just saying that so they have an "out" to not make this a global tour--should the US leg be less then successful???? |
