I bought this the moment the pre-order went up - just because I want to own Planets of the Universe on vinyl.

I've also just gotten REALLY into collecting vinyl though so I guess it's not exciting for everyone.

I'm dying for Trouble in Shangri-La to be reissued on vinyl.

You will be happy. It's the main reason I bought this on vinyl, too. And I must say, there is nothing better than blasting Planets and Sorcerer from vinyl on a stereo - they sound amazing.

^^^This! Agree wholeheartedly!

And yes, Paul, I'm also waiting with baited breath for TISL to come out on vinyl...as well as IYD...and yes, even Street Angel, because I'm a completionist!

Mine just came in and... both records are totally bent. What should I do? Did this happen to anyone else? It was just jammed in the box.

According to what I've read the new version is half-speed mastered. And one
would assume that it would be from the master tapes. If so, it could sound better
than the original release if they use a proper pressing plant.

Has anyone come across any additional pictures of the bag? I'm still debating.

My 'CV' bundle arrived last week on Tuesday.

The bag is good quality. It's vinyl, but looks and feels like leather.

It is big and reminds me of those bags the delivery guy uses to keep the pizzas warm.

It is, indeed! Mine arrived yesterday, and it sounds fantastic. It's half-speed mastered by Stan Ricker, with plating and pressing at RTI.

This clear version is a straight repressing of the original. Both are half-speed, both by Stan Ricker, both pressed at RTI.

Here's the original with splash sticker, from Discogs:

I should have checked my original vinyl (w/sticker) as karmacontestant pointed out.

It got me thinking about MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs) and their half-speed
mastering process. They would advertise they used the original master tapes, but
from what I understand sometimes that meant the final stereo LP master, not the
multi-track tapes. Which of course if used could not only be remastered but also
remixed. And on some releases they didn't even have access to first generation LP
master.

With Stevie's Crystal Visions I'm not sure how close we're getting to the original
sources. At some point I'm sure she quit using analog tape. So I'd guess at least
six of the songs are just from digital files. And were the mother stampers used
for the original pressing used again? They do have a limited life, but at the relatively
low numbers these new albums are pressed at I suppose that would be possible.

Back when MFSL was king didn't they destroy the mothers/stampers after their
initial run? If not, that means if they can be located that Fleetwood Mac (white
album), Mirage and Stevie's Bella Donna is just a press away.

Mine should arrive today, too. I don't know why I am so exited because I already have the original!

My records weren't bent, but there is actually a defect in the vinyl on disc 2. It seems to be in the vinyl itself and not a scratch, but Rooms on Fire skips very badly and that's where the defect is. I got mine from amazon and they are already sending me a new copy.

Mine looks worse than that!

I wasn't even going to open mine as I have an original copy (black vinyl), but after
seeing these pictures and comments and even a YouTube video about the problems,
I had to check it out.

What a bummer. I bet it's the whole batch. Great job RTI. Amazon might pull it down.
Get your defective copies while you can!!!

Picked up a copy at Barnes & Noble today. Took it home, removed the first disc, held it up to light, noticed it was pristine. Put it on my player and sadly discovered that it skipped 4 times on "Edge of 17", not even a minute into the song.

Took it back to B&N and exchanged it for another copy. Brought it home, put it on the player,,,one skip during "Edge", two skips during "I Can't Wait" and two skips during "Sorcerer". That was enough for me. Took it right back and got a full refund.

What a shame. The clear vinyl looked really cool.

For those of you who were lucky to score an original first pressing back in 2007...HANG ONTO THEM!!! According to the experiences of many I've seen on here, other forums, and popular vinyl retail distributors, this limited run of clear pressed vinyl seems to be a big bust! Boo!!!
