Default Important petition for Bob Welch. Please sign up!

Hi. I hope I dont get in trouble for spamming, but I thought this is important which is why I've posted this link in two forums. I wont post it again in any other parts of the message board.

This is a petition to get Bob Welch inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If you would sign it, and maybe help to spread the word about it I'd really appreciate it. Heres the link:

http://www.petitiononline.com/bobwelch/petition.html

Please help Bob out!

Thank you.

I'm not trying to throw the seeds of pessimism to the thread but this is what a writer of All-Music Guide called Jeff Tamarkin wrote on petitions like this a few years ago:
Quote:
"This is all very noble but what most folks don't realize is that these petitions go nowhere and do nothing. You would have to send it to each and every member of the Hall of Fame's nominating committee for them to ever see it. And of course the Hall likes to keep that membership and the member' addresses a big secret. By just sending it generically to the Hall of Fame it probably ends up in the garbage. I know this for a fact because I was on the committee for two years. And even then, these petitions are regarded as a joke. As I think I've mentioned here before I once presented a petition with 5000 signatures to get the Moody Blues nominated (not because I care about them - I don't - but because 5000 people took the time to do that) and in about two seconds it was shot down by Springsteen's manager Jon Landau and his pals like Dave Marsh. There was not even a discussion about whether they deserved it (which they do). Basically the HoF nominates who it wants to nominate, based largely on personal preferences, friendships and favors, and doesn't care a whit for what the public wants."
Kinda sucks, doesn't it. But then again, if the guys with "the authority" like Bob then it might happen.

What a drag. Those hall of fame people are hellbound as far as I'm concerned!

Bah! We'll give it a shot anyway and see what happens. I just wish the people in charge werent such a bunch of jackasses! They treat it like a big joke, with all the nepotism....

I could rant for hours, but I wont.

Which really sucks, because the HoF has requested at least ONE of Bob's guitars for display.

The Saga Of Bob Welch's ES-345

They found that the guitar he recorded "Future Games", "Sentimental Lady", & "Hypnotized" with was "Hall Of Fame worthy", but the artist who PLAYED the guitar wasn't? What crap!

I signed too, but like Gaius says, we'll be lucky if this goes anywhere (unfortunately).

Do you remember that Simpsons episode where Homer goes to space, screws up everything in the spaceship but ends up saving it all with the help of "an inanimate carbon rod"? And then all they do is interview the inanimate carbon rod, and paying tribute to IT instead of Homer?

Kind of like that... worth of a cartoon, I'd say.
