Default Your favourite Rhiannon performance?

I've been on a total Rhiannon kick lately, and I'm really curious as to which version of Rhiannon you all consider to be your favourite. I have about 20 versions of the song on my computer (Sad I know!) and I just can't get enough!

For me, it has to be either the Midnight Special version, which is just excellent in so many ways - the energy, her voice, the playing - it's all wonderful. It's the most played song on my itunes for a reason, I think it's utterly compelling.

Although, a close second has to be one of the versions I have on my PC. I don't know the specifics... but it's labeled as "Rhiannon Live 1980" and she's going "is that what you want?" near the end, it has so much energy and vocally, she's on fire. Whenever it comes on shuffle, I HAVE to listen to all of it.

I really love the versions with the kick ass guitar solo and Stevie's solo exorcisms. I only have one Rhiannon from Mirage, which I'm quite gutted about cause it's not very good quality. I even have one from the Tango tour which sounds awesome... but is of very poor quality D=

Probably the "Rosebud" one... the one where Lindsey is in the blue silk shirt? I also really like the Mirage tour version because of the ending guitar.

The short one.

No really, I like the single version, with all the extra guitar licks.

Chicago-May 14,1980
The sound of Mick's drumming echoing off the walls, Lindsey's screaming guitar, Christine's haunting piano, John's spooky bass playing and ofcourse Stevie's incredible live vocal.

i'm pretty sure this is the one you're talking about: It was 8/11/80 in Mobile:

as for me, i really really love The Mirage version. The way she changes "you don't change, baby i don't change, all the same, Rhiannon" and then she collapses to the floor. I love it.

100% agree with you, Buttercookie This version is SUBLIME. They are so in a zone. Stevie is AMAZING. Lindsey's on fire. Even Mick looks impressed during the last minute, like he's witnessing ( and is a part of ) something really special.

It's a tie between the Midnight Special and the Mirage versions for me. I love Midnight Special because it's very tight & clean musically, and captures them all at their best, and Stevie's vocal is pretty much impeccable. I also love the happy smiles Lindsey keeps tossing at Stevie periodically, etc.

BUT the Mirage version is the one that cemented the idea that I needed "all the same all the same all the same" tattooed across my shoulders, which eventually grew into the whole Rhiannon-based back tat I hope to finish one of these days when I have many dollars and no bills to pay (ha! a likely idea!).

She sounds like complete hell the whole way through that performance, but the last bit, when she yanks the mic down, and belts out the "you don't change and baby, I don't change, and it's all the same, Rhiannon" just kills me every time.

All the same, baby. All the same.
