Default Doing What I Can

I love this song! Who else thinks the guitar that comes in around ~0:08 sounds like the guitar part from Big Love?

Definitely. I always assumed that "Doing What I Can" evolved from "Big Love", after the latter was given to FM for Tango in the Night.

I agree. I put both the studio Big Love and DWIC on a CD to be played at a party. Big Love was near the start and DWIC was near the end and when DWIC came on one person went "Didn't we already have this song already?" so they must be really, really similar on a casual listen.

Oh yeah, definitely. I've always thought so... and more than just a little bit. Pretty much the whole structure of the song.

We need to get some sort of mash-up going to compare them.

Sounds like they were ready for a new CD to be put on.

I can't play Lindsey at a party or at the office...I get a lot of slack. Lindsey's music is too esoteric for the masses.

Then they shouldn't have all been singing alone to the song before it (Little Lies)

Luckily most of my friends have got accustomed to LB's quirkiness now and they all love him almost as much as me. If they could all afford it I'd have a group of six or eight people that I'd introduced to him flying with me to see him in the US.

I like your friends. I always say to myself when putting on LB, if my friends/colleagues would just listen, they would probably love it. But then, even though I have every album by LB, I somehow always end up playing Law & Order the most.

Here's a live version. (Don't have any mashup's.)

I didn't pay much attention to the song on the studio album. The live version made it come alive for me. And how!
