NEW YORK - (AP) -- The McVie's are going back on the road with Fleetwood Mac After 17 Years.

The band announced a 33-city North American tour Thursday. It's the first set of shows since they canceled performances last year as bassist John McVie was being treated for cancer.
The tour also marks Christine McVie officially rejoining the band since 1997's "The Dance" tour.

The "On With the Show" tour will kick off Sept. 30 in Minneapolis and wrap up Dec. 20 in Tampa, Fla. Tickets go on sale April 7.
The band also includes Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

Fleetwood Mac canceled 14 shows in Australia and New Zealand during John McVie's treatment. The band spokeswoman didn't specify the type of cancer.
Christine McVie joined Fleetwood Mac for a show in London last year.

Reading about Mick and Christine's living arrangements made me wonder about John? Where's he staying?

I suppose he and his family came back to California months ago for his cancer treatment. Maybe they're renting a place too.

Molly lives and works in LA and I wonder if John keeps a home there else has rented something while he has his treatment and works. A friend of mine connects to a friend of Julies in a roundabout FB way and this week my friend saw a mention of Julie being in LA, meeting friends for dinner etc. I know that Molly and Julie did the Ireland and Uk parts of the tour with John, and Molly and these friends spent part of the holidays in Hawaii.

[Same interview, but a few different quotes, I think]

By Justin Harp, March 30, 2014 Digital Spy

http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news...-life.html?rss

Christine McVie has reflected on the 16 years that she spent away from Fleetwood Mac.

The group announced last week that Christine will rejoin Fleetwood Mac for a US tour, following a special reunion in the UK late last year.

McVie has spoken to Rolling Stone about her life in England after walking away from the 'Don't Stop' band back in 1998.

"Music left my life for a while, to be honest," she explained. "It wasn't that I didn't like it, but you know, I'm not really a solo player. I have always needed other musicians to bounce off."

She continued: "Of course, the ultimate band

being the band that I have just rejoined, so, I couldn't imagine doing anything with anyone else.

"I did make a solo album [2004's In the Meantime] in my house when I was there. And because I was just afraid of flying, I wouldn't promote it and I wouldn't tour. Actually, it wasn't a very good album anyway - it got buried underneath the pits of hell, I suppose."

McVie's return to Fleetwood Mac

came about last year, after reconnecting with drummer Mick Fleetwood on a trip to his home in Maui.

"It is a time warp; it is very, very happy," she declared. "None of the nonsense with the drink and the nasty stuff. We're all grown up, of course."

The singer went on to say: "One thing that we definitely have is chemistry and respect for each other's music, and [Lindsey Buckingham] and I play well off each other.

"We have great rapport; he loves working on my songs and I love what he does with my songs, not to mention the fabulous rhythm section. So I'm a pig in a pile of poo really."

These guys are all in their 70's now, I imagine all the good juice is long gone now.

Of course, Christine's comment about Lindsey are in keeping with what she's always said about him, whether she was in the band or not. In 1982 she said:

Quote:
There's definitely a chemistry that transcends everything else that might happen before or after we're on stage. We play well together and sing well together. That side of Fleetwood Mac I really enjoy. And I fell comfortable working with Lindsey. Dare I say this with him present? I have alot of respect for this man; I don't really imagine anybody else being able to do what he does with my songs.
Of the band's chemistry in 1995 (when she was out of the band she said)

Quote:
The nature of the beast, singing with them in 3 part harmonies, along with Stevie and Lindsey, created some chemical reaction that, even to this day, don't know what it really is. With Bob Welch, there was not as much chemistry, it was harder work. Not that the sound was not as good, but just a different sensation altogether.
From the same 1995 Q & A she said of Lindsey:

Quote:
Lindsey Buckingham, I think he was the most superlative guitar player this band will ever have. A true shining light. After Lindsey, everybody else seems a little palid. I'm not talking talent, just chemistry for Fleetwood Mac.
Then, when she was promoting Meantime in 2004, she made some jokes about Tusk, about crazy guitarists, about writing all of the group's hits, but in the end she said how much they were all influenced by Lindsey and she was over his shoulder the whole time and learned a lot from him.
Nothing she is saying now is new or at all different from what she has always said.

Lindsey, of course, has discussed the parallel lines he and Christine have musically, how they were traveling down the same path, even before they met.

Nothing is different now. I see it as a continuation.

Surely, Christine didn't have to put up with beer-drinking men in taverns after 1975. If she was encountering them regularly after that, it must be because she wanted to.

Must be broke or feeling irrelevant.

I don't think it's the money. She's reportedly worth about $65M. Maybe she's just bored.

When will Peter Green rejoin the band? At that time I'll consider Fleetwood Mac to be a band again...
Quote:

Cool. Now they can all come out on stage with canes and wheelchairs at some no-kill performer shelter in an Atlantic City casino.
Quote:
Who?

Quote:
Is she any relation to Ben Carson?
Quote:
I wonder what they'll sound like with a 1 octave range.

S'anyway, mega~band with its place firmly secure in music history ~ What a bunch of old losers! The Haterz ~ Christine (real last name Perfect) was my favorite band member, i loved Bare Trees ("i love my dog, oh perfect love and peace!..") & of course Rumours. McVie's solo album after Mac garnered a top 10 hit & airplay on MTV. good record, my best song from it, Ask Anybody ~ i hope the tour goes well & wipes the electro-techno scene up.

This thread is going to become awfully cluttered if user comments posted on other sites are also considered "2014 reunion articles."

That said, it's your call, of course. I go with the flow.

Of course, they aren't considered "2014 reunion articles". They are reactions to the reunion articles that I feel make an interesting contrast to our own reactions which are also in the thread. I sometimes find the comments of non-focused fans illuminating or comical.

To your point, yes this thread is going to become awfully cluttered. It already is. These type of things always are.

Me too. Generally they are favorable to Christine. But there's always a Stevie fan or two that gets really miffed about Christine trying to steal the spotlight. it's so funny.
