Wink The Very Best Of The 'Old' Fleetwood Mac

Well I understand the fact that the Buckingham/Nicks incarnation of Fleetwood Mac was the most succesful of the band, at least in commercial terms. In fact it was my own way to enter to know the band, as the first Greatest Hits CD (the green one) was my first FM related purchase...

But there's so much more... I've been listening to music from the first ages (The Collection - kind of a beautiful compilation of some nice bluesy tracks, Then Play On) and downloading some stuff from the subsequent years --

Anyway I'd like to know... making it in a very similar format to the other upcoming 'Best Of' CD... which songs would you include in an ultimate compilation of Fleetwood Mac before Nicks and Buckingham? I have my own list but I'm going to post it later. Try to trim your choices to a double CD... and let's dream that it actually could happen some day...

Song of the moment - Sentimental Lady

2. A Fool No More
3. I Loved Another Woman
4. The World Keep On Turning
5. Black Magic Woman
6. Love That Burns
7. Stop Messin' Round
8. Trying So Hard To Forget
9. Need Your Love So Bad
10. Albatross
11. Ooh Baby (live Chess Studios, Chicago)
12. Man Of The World
13. Can't Believe You Wanna Leave (live BBC)
14. Before The Beginning
15. Do You Give A Damn For Me (early version of Showbiz Blues)
16. Oh Well (Part 1)
17. Rattlesnake Shake
18. Jumping At Shadows (live BBC)
19. Leaving Town Blues (with Nick Pickett on violin)

This encompasses all the FM releases I have, but I have the Boston Tea Party CDs on order, so that could alter it a little bit.

Cool My list

OK, first of all I should not have used the winking smilie for this topic, but somehow I got confused and did it... Dammit. Second of all, I tried so hard to trim my list to 36 songs (18 per disc), just like the 2-CD Best Of Fleetwood Mac collection to be released, and I came up with this selection which contains the songs that, to me, are their best... from what I've heard.

CD 1
1. I Believe My Time Ain't Long (Johnson)
2. Albatross (Green)
3. Shake Your Moneymaker (James)
4. Black Magic Woman (Green)
5. Jigsaw Puzzle Blues (Kirwan)
6. I Loved Another Woman (Green)
7. Need Your Love So Bad (Little Willie John)
8. Man Of The World (Green)
9. Rattlesnake Shake (Green)
10. Stop Messin' Round (Green)
11. World In Harmony (Green/Kirwan???)
12. Showbiz Blues (Green)
13. Green Manalishi (Green)
14. Tell Me All The Things You Do (Kirwan)
15. Love That Burns (Green)
16. I've Lost My Baby (Spencer)
17. Trying So Hard To Forget (Green)
18. Oh Well (Parts 1 & 2) (Green)

CD2
1. Station Man (Kirwan/Spencer/McVie)
2. One Together (Spencer)
3. Heroes Are Hard To Find (McVie)
4. Woman Of A Thousand Years (Kirwan)
5. Hypnotized (Welch)
6. Believe Me (McVie)
7. Spare Me A Little Of Your Love (McVie)
8. Bermuda Triangle (Welch)
9. Dust (Kirwan)
10. Show Me A Smile (McVie)
11. Emerald Eyes (Welch)
12. Just Crazy Love (McVie)
13. Sentimental Lady (Welch)
14. Did You Ever Love Me (Welch/McVie)
15. Prove Your Love (McVie)
16. Future Games (Welch)
17. Caught In The Rain (Weston)
18. Why (McVie)

Hard selection. Really.

Default Besides...

...following that weird thing about NOT HAVING ANY chronological considerations in putting the tracks together, I did the very same thing and put as first or last tracks the ones I felt that were better in that position... That's very a "Fleetwood Mac compilatons' sequencing" attitude from me, I guess.

You can take the question marks out of "World In Harmony"; you were correct that it's a Green/Kirwan tune.

Nice compilation.
