It is not just you. I do like it a little better now that I have been listening to it for a few months. I just am a bit dissapointed that there aren't more songs I like on it. Really there are only two or three songs that are up to par with the songs on SYW. But it is still worth the 15 bucks because there are some good songs on it and it is the perfect record if you want to relax and don't want a lot of loud music.

Friend and You Are are fantastic but the rest is hit or miss. So that is why I find it hard to really love an album where after the first two songs you are constantly hitting the skip button and can seldom get through an entire song due to many repeated choruses or songs that sound the same.

I still love Christine though!

I agree - and I disagree too... I think there are more then a few good songs... albeit it took me a long time of repetative listening to get to this point... but I think it's pretty swell. It's not chalk full of single material mind you, but I enjoy most of it.

I think it's bland too. I love her music with the Mac and even some of her older solo material but this album just isn't doing it for me. I do enjoy Friend, You Are, and So Sincere but I could do without those songs.

I only like a few tracks on In the Meantime, but the same goes for Say You Will... I do a lot of skipping on both albums.

Yes.

Soon to be heard in elevators and malls everywhere.

IMHO, Christine 'needs' Lindsey's input/production to have an interesting result.

A few songs, but in general I think it's a beautiful album. It really represents the elegence she brought to FMac. I heard an acoustic version of Friend the other day and those keyboard riffs are delicious. She is so unique in voice and keyboard. I will say she is the better singer out of the three, but needs an edgy producer.

SYW to me wasn't bland, just really annoying in places. I skip songs on both albums.

The only songs I -sometimes- skip on ITM are Easy Come, Easy Go, and Liar.
Geez though, SYW.........maybe I should list what I still listen to:
WTWCT
Thrown Down
Miranda
Red Rover
SYW
Peacekeeper
StealYHA
EFO
Say Goodbye
I'm tired of the rest...

Most definitely not. I think her album is great, it's a great mix of jazz/blues and pop, and I listen to it all the time.

I can't even comprehend the idea of SYW being bland!

I am obsessed with SYW and really only skip one or two songs on occasion just because I am never sitting down long enough to listen to the whole 18 track record.

It's not cutting-edge, certainly. But Christine's music has never been that, and it's not what I love her for. Instead, her beautiful voice and the warmth of her melodies are the main draw for me. And those are the qualities that keep the music from being "bland." If ITM were truly bland, it could sound like anyone -- and on the contrary, it's immediately identifiable as Christine!

Very well said. I've had more time to listen to ITM ( I got it on Sunday), and am appreciating it more with each listen. She's in great voice, and in some ways the albums' songs recall way back when she did "I'd Rather Go Blind." ITM is solid.

Bland, no. I would describe In The Meantime as a mellow, warm, intimate, comfortable, elegant(I like that description), uncomplicated album & in its own little way, brilliant. I love listening to anyone who can sing really well & this is the best I've ever heard Christine sing. She has a fantastic, natural voice still, even in her 60's. The album's not cutting edge, but so what. I tend to tune out that sort of stuff anyway.
