Hair salon
Has anyone here been to a Regis Salon? Are they okay? I'm going next Thursday to get my hair cut and maybe highlighted.
Also, is going to a salon any better than going to Great Clips? Are they really better and more experienced? I've only been to a salon once and paid about $55 for a cut/style. That was a few years ago. I can probably highlight my own hair since it grows super fast, but I definitely wanna get it cut again.

Even from a guy's point of view, I definitely think you get what you pay for with a haircut. I've been going to a salon (wow, I hate saying that word!) for about 5 years now and am much more satisfied with the results. I just think they take a lot more time with you and are more up to date on the latest styles since they usually attend a lot of continuing education types of things. Is it ridiculous that I pay $45 for a men's short haircut at Toni & Guy? Absolutely. But I've tried many, many people in the past at barbers and regular hair places, and I have found that I get a much better job at the salon. Plus, a 5 minute head massage pretty much seals the deal for me! So although most of my friends and family think that I'm a complete idiot for spending so much, I am very happy with it. I only get my hair cut about once a month or so, so I figure I can splurge on it and walk away completely satisfied every time.
Edit: Sorry, forgot to answer your question about Regis. I went to one in one of the Dallas malls for a short time. The first guy I had was awesome...did a perfect job in my opinion. But, he moved away after the second time he cut my hair. Then I tried a few different people after him, and no one came close to doing as good of a job. I think overall the company is pretty good, but I much prefer Toni & Guy. JMO Brad Last edited by Brad; 05-08-2006 at 01:11 AM.. |

My husband worked for a Regis when he first got out of school, and they really are just a fancy Great Clips. As someone said earlier, you definitely get what you pay for. He only worked there for a couple of weeks- they said he didn't work fast enough, so he quit.

Thanks everyone!
I might go back to Shelton's since they did a nice job that one time I went. Might as well get it done all up once in my life and splurge on a cut/highlights.
I won't be spending that kind of money every time I go, but every once in a while doesn't hurt. I am so low maintenance on my hair, it's not even funny, so I don't want anything fancy, just a nice layered cut and a color that will brighten up my face.

Christy ~ if you ever need a great stylist I got to a lady in Grand Prairie and she is awesome. She costs a little more but well worth the $$. PM me if you ever need her number.
