Question Any Airplane Fans

So, just curious if we have any real, true Jefferson Airplane fans here. I know there are probably some casual fans around, (White Rabbit, Somebody To Love) But I've wondered for the longest time if anyone here on The Ledge who is a "big" fan, like me Does anyone own After Bathing At Baxter's ? Bark? Dare I ask (diving deeper into the catolouge) Paul Kantner's Blows Against the Empire (one of my favorites) ? Or any of Paul/Grace's other solo stuff?

Anyway, just wondering if we have anyone here who appreciates the pure brilliance of the band (just my oppinion). Jorma Kaukonean is one of the most underrated, (in my oppinion), original guitarists of rock music. Jack Cassidy is one of the most tallented bassists I have ever heard. Grace is just an awsome person all together, the voice, the lyrics, but.

Paul Kantner is a genius!

Didn't mean to rant...

Her voice was not a well rounded instrument - she essentially was just loud - and I love it. She also is nuts, but I like that too

Babble on... I could talk about this for hours. Grace was nuts, and you're right, that's what I love. And she loved shock value, which is what we greatly have in common She was just such a cool, interesting person. Have you ever heard Easter? from Long John Silver?... (the song actually has a question mark, I wasn't ending the question)

My favs are:

1. The shotgun in the driveway incident and

2. Shrieking to a German audience while on acid "WE WON THE WAR " and then sort of crawling around on the stage

Also, I have not heard Easter - but will check it out.

What's the shotgun incident...?

I heard about the Germany show, but I was under the impression that she called the Nazi's...That really surprises me, since they were so anti-sterotype-generalizing...But who knows...I've haven't been acid yet, so I wouldn't know...

I would agree, she's loud and "nuts"...but I don't love either of those things about her. But people also say that about Stevie too, so...

I wouldn't say I'm a die-hard, but I do have their reunion CD and have their set from Montery Pop. I also have that hilarious VH-1 compilation put out a few years back that has most of the hits from JA/JS/Starship. There were two songs in particular that I was shocked weren't on there: Wooden Ships, which was played frequently throught the Behind The Music show, and Find Your Way Back.
