Default Omg, did you guys listen to [Golden]?

I just accidentally discovered a duet between Lady Antebellum and Stevie called [Golden] (thank you iTunes!). It's sooo beautiful! I cried! T__T

You guys need to go and listen to it!

Is that Vanessa Carlton in the background singing?

You are right...it is a gorgeous song. Stevie called it their Landslide. It isn't Vanessa Carlton singing though. It is Hillary from Lady Antebellum. LOVE IT!!

The Crossroads performance with Stevie and Lady Antebellum was fantastic. In the history of the show, this is considered as one of the most successful melding of two different artists. I give a lot of credit to Stevie. She did the homework, studying their songs and the group dynamic. The result was natural and seamless, as if Stevie was always part of their group.

I've never paid much attention the group, but I have much respect for their talent. They showed a lot of respect for Stevie's talent, and appeared thrilled to have her in the mix. Her vocals enriched their harmonies. It was very enjoyable, impressive show.

Why would Vanessa Carlton factor in the equation? Crossroads never had a three-way.

Lady Antebellum also showed their FM/Stevie love on their latest album that came out the end of last year, 747, on a track entitled 'Freestyle.'

"River road, Chevy van
Cherry Classic Coke can
Rolling on the floorboard
Fleetwood, Macklemore
Coming out the speakers
Spilling on our t-shirts"

For a country group (and I don't particularly like country music), they are pretty eclectic with their sound and blend genre's real nicely, especially the latest offering 747. Has a lot of Pop/Rock influence blended with country. My particular favorites are the title track, 'Long Stretch of Love,' 'Lie With Me' and 'Falling For You.'

I've never gotten into the country scene, but many rock and roll artists/bands are heavily influenced by county music and there is a strong crossroad between the two genres. Some random examples - Neil Young and The Eagles. Stevie ventures like Leather and Lace, That's Alright and After the Glitter Fades, The Highwayman, Rose Garden etc... are pure country.

It's the overused cheesy rural trailer park cliches, which often define country pop music, that make me wince. But all genres have their own cliches. Without knowing much about Lady Antebellum, I disliked and dismissed them just because of their their name. My initial, uninformed bias is shameful because once I got acquainted to them from Crossroads, I came to recognize their talent and authenticity. I liked their songs and their personalities. I didn't become a die-hard fan and follower. But if I found one of their CDs in the used/discount bin of my local record store I might take the leap.
