I think the Bella Donna version might be too over played. That might get on people's nerves, they think it's too cheesy. I recently made a Stevie cd for a friend and I used the storytellers version of Edge of 17. The guitar intro is a little understated, but she nailed that song! The soundstage would have been good, but too long I wouldn't have had room for another song. The live version on Enchanted is good too.
I try to be careful using live versions, but Stevie is one of those few artists that actually sound better live. Judas Priest is another that I can think of right now.

Yes, even if you love someone's music, seeing them in concert can really display their lack of presence. It's shocking. I think if a song moves you, you expect the artist to be dynamic. Then, when they're not it kind of brings your spirit down. I have actually had to talk myself back into appreciating the work again and forgetting the "live" experience.

I think fans are very lucky that FM can be captivating in concert. Still.

I think Fleetwood Mac and SN in her solo career both sound much better live! Especially with recent SN albums and Say You Will, the live versions just have that human quality, where you're just in awe over how a person like you or me could create such amazing music. Or maybe that's just me.

I agree that Edge of Seventeen is overplayed. I have to admit if it comes up on Shuffle or sometimes on the radio, I decide in the moment if I want to skip it. Lately when I stop and listen I'm like wow actually this is a great song... But when you hear it all the time it's one of the hits that just loses its novelty. Like it's a hit for a reason, like Landslide or Rhiannon or Dreams -- they're all obviously amazing songs -- but I prefer more hidden gems that not everyone on the planet knows all the words to.
