Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac fanzines in the 1980s and 1990s
Anyone else remember those days?
Many moons ago, this was how we got our SN/FM news and got to know each other. |

These are cool. I remember very well and Fleetwood Mac was overshadowed by other groups. It was hard to find like-minded people.

I see you have a few there by Mike Bise. Bise put out a fanzine for a few years, which I think was called Mirror Mirror.
I remember a mailing list several hundred strong that Roland Benoit was administrator for. This would have been around 1981–82. They traded concerts and interviews on cassette and occasionally photos by Dorian Boese and Jim Welander and Pete Haas. (This was all back when the band was good, of course, which made collecting more fun.)

I must have lived in the sticks because as big as a fan that I was, I never heard of these or took part. I guess I missed out on so much
I do remember trying to join the official Stevie Nicks fan club that had a NY address inside the Wild Heart cassette. But being 13, I could not figure out what a SASE was So I just mailed them a letter to join and never heard a word back. How rude I was a loser Fleetwood Mac fan I've told this story before but I wrote HBO a 3 page letter begging them to re-air the Mirage concert again in the spring of 1983. They did write me back quite a personal letter that did not promise anything but said someday its possible to re-air programs that are popular with fans. Those suckers never re-aired it. I was a loser Fleetwood Mac fan We did not have MTV to see Gypsy or Hold Me. We did not have a VCR to rent the Mirage concert so I had to find other means to get my fix. I remember being in a SEARS department store in 1983 and holding the Mirage concert on CED in my hands dreaming I could own it. A CED player was hundreds of dollars and the CED was about $40 which was big bucks back then. For you kids here is what a CED was: http://mobile.cedmagic.com/v-title-d...concert-1.html I was a loser Fleetwood Mac fan

Oh yes, I have quite a few scans of photos from Jim. I also got Silver Springs and a few other fanzines. I still have them. I remember there was some kind of falling out between a couple of the women that put out one of the fanzines and I was so sad when I got my last copy. By 1997 though I finally got a computer and spent hours looking up Stevie sites. LOL. I'll have to dig out all my fanzines and looks at them again. The timeline was mostly from 1985 thru 1990.

I remember Welander and Hass, and bought some stuff from them back in the day. I still have Haas's photo stickers. |
