Default Jeremy Spencer on YouTube (aka I spend too much time watching videos on YouTube)

Ok so I got bored tonight and dug around a bit on YouTube. Sure you've probably all seen these before but that doesn't make them any less brilliant if you watch them again

I've always disliked the song called Linda.

However, there must have been a breathtaking Linda in the audience during My Baby's Sweet(er). As you can see, Danny is completely overwhelmed. From 2:02 till at least 2:20, when the camera moves to another part of the room (do we see Linda???), he's completely lost at changing chords.

What I like about the song is that it demonstrates the versatility of Mr Spencer. So different from his Elmore James covers.

Sure, it was still Jeremy in parody mode but I don't think that takes away from its value?

These videos were very enjoyable and it was my first time viewing them. Jeremy, you sure were a hottie back then.

I have heard the song Linda on the oldies station many times in my life and never knew it was Jeremy & Fleetwood Mac. I always thought it was a Roy Orbison song.

I'd get a kick hearing it on the radio. My station only plays another Linda, by Jan and Dean.

That's probably the one. But the lyrics are the same as the Jeremy Spencer version.
Is this the same song Michele?

No, the Jan and Dean lyrics are something about when he goes to sleep, he never counts sheep. He just counts the charms of Linda.

Vocally, I think those type of songs are fun to sing, in a Buddy Holly way.

Wow, so all these years I've been hearing an old FM song. This was in Arizona and in Massachusetts.

Are you sure it was Jeremy's "Linda" you heard on the radio and not Tommy Roe's "Sheila" - an earlier hit song that "Linda" was obviously based upon:

Of course both songs are heavily influenced by Buddy Holly, most notably his song "Peggy Sue". But "Sheila", as a hit song from the early '60s, would be far more likely to be played on US radio than "Linda", which was never even released in the US.

They do sound very similar. Next time I hear it on the radio I'll let you folks know. Who knows when that will be though. I hope I'm not wrong. If I am wrong then ChiliD will hypnotize me.

Tommy Roe's "Sheila" was popular enough to be covered by another '60s group from the UK:
