Default Where Is Sharon? Orlando 5-25

Looking at videos of the 5-25-23 show in Orlando, Florida, Sharon Celani is noticeably absent from the stage. Sharon, where are you? Did Stevie make any announcement during the show regarding the absence of Sharon?

This is the first time I've seen Stevie perform with only one backup singer. Moreover, it's the first time since 1979 that Stevie has performed a major concert without Sharon Celani standing somewhere on stage. Also interesting, the harmony vocals still sound present and full.

Sharon.....where are you? Sharon?

One of the FB fan reviewers who attended said that Stevie made no mention of Sharon but they also said Sharon's vocals were piped in. People are assuming that Sharon has covid.

How many shows has Sharon missed?
The stage looks a little empty with only one background singer? Maybe we should fly in Lori Perry to substitute.

It makes me have little interest in seeing ANY shows now. 90+% of acts play with karaoke tracks now.

That's why Mirage was the last time they were a true band(even though there was a hidden keyboard player and drummer).

WHO THE F*CK DECIDED THAT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO SOUND EXACTLY LIKE THE RECORD, NOW? Because, OFF WITH THEIR HEAD!!!!

I wholeheartedly agree. Most of the classic rock dinosaur acts are using layered karaoke tracks in their arena tours. Even Springsteen, known for his impromptu varying set lists, seems to be using layered tracks.

The layered tracks are also the reason why the set list cannot be changed or deviated from - the technology plays the show like a recording down to the minute - with inserted talk breaks. Teleprompters can be seen onstage to give the artists visual ques. Technolgy has killed the energy and spontaneity of live music tours - it's all just a watered-down corporation.

It seems to me that Sharon Celani and Marilyn Martin are just lip synching to their pre-recorded backing vocals. The show can easily be done without them.

When Brett died, the music continued without replacing him. Just unmute his tracks.

It is just a watered down corporation now. Just a bidness.

Is there any chance Sharon could have been on the side of the stage, down the stairs singing at microphone?

Why would they do that, unless she unexpectedly grew a hump on her back, overnight?

My thinking was to keep her away if she had Covid or just had it but really it makes sense for her not to be there at all. I answered my own question

So I was too young to notice any of this stuff but in looking back, clearly the technology changed a ton during the mid-80’s. It seems that almost every act, especially the older ones who toured earlier and later, started to change to a more glossy sounding, truer to the recording approach sometime in the mid to late 80’s.

Fleetwood Mac 1982 vs 1987 is pretty night and day. And it’s not just Lindsey leaving and Rick and Billy replacing him. I suspect had Lindsey stayed, the “raw” 1982 version of the band would’ve been unrecognizable in 1987. The Rolling Stones 1982 vs. 1989 are the same way. It’s jarring how much more slick everything got and stayed that way - it’s only gotten worse.

The joy of listening to old live shows now is hearing how varied and unique each tour was - and in many cases, each SHOW! The evolution of a song throughout a tour is much more interesting to me than just hearing the same exact track night after night. I know that the shows are designed for the fan sitting in the arena that night as opposed to some guy listening to a recording on YouTube 40 years later, but it just seems to lose some of the rock and roll aspect when everything is so predetermined and “coded.”

I do understand that for bands like Fleetwood Mac or Eagles whose studio recordings are meticulously crafted, recreating the songs on stage isn’t easy and I’m not against some degree of augmentation to fill out the sound. But it just seems everyone is taking that way too far and creating boring predictable outcomes.

I find it hard to believe they would need to use Sharon recorded tracks. Marilyn has some pipes on her. I would think she could get by with one backing vocalist. The other musicians also have microphones and sing a little back up too. Sharon's voice is really heard on Stand Back and on Edge of 17. I would love to hear the pre-recorded tracks if its on youtube.

That's what makes the 1980 Live album so special. It showcases the band as a rock group where they would jam out and make uses of the only 5 members on stage with a little Ray Lindsey thrown in.

except even that was sweetened and cleaned up in the studio.... so how raw and real is it really? More than today, sure, but.....

I still love listening to my Tusk Tour bootlegs for this reason. All the live tracks evolved over that 10 month tour. Before Tusk I was always enamored with Rhiannon live from any White album or Rumours album tour but after Tusk, none of those early Rhiannon's could match the brilliance of the Tusk Tour ones IMO. Even with the other songs they did, it is such a thrill to hear the Tusk Tour versions. Sadly I was only able to attend one Tusk concert and it wasn't very good and it was also in the 3rd month of the tour. Their fire wasn't lit until they headed over to Japan & Australia. That's when they started to burn. Then when they moved over to Europe they were blazing and rode that wave back through the USA to end the tour.
