![]() It's been nagging me since his album came out, but I knew I recognised the couplet from 'Santa Rosa', "It doesn't matter what you say, I'm gonna love you any old way". So I finally decided to Google it, and of course it's from 'Baby It's You', written by Burt Bacharach, Luther Dixon and Mack David, although the lyric is slightly different - "it doesn't matter what they say". I know it best from the Beatles version, but it was a big hit for the Shirelles first.
Lindsey's magpie tendencies at work again! He's quoted from the Stones before, and of course from his own songs (and Christine's - "over and over" pops up a lot), but have any of you spotted others? |

![]() Or maybe he was aware and this is just one more way he uses pastiche? Either way, thanks for the spot. |
