Default Don Henley Comment on FM

Well, let me start off by doing my obligatory "I don't post here very often" comment. So now that that's out of the way, let me also take the opportunity to say I know many of you are not the biggest DH fans (I said I don't post here very often, not that I don't visit often... ), but I saw this and just wanted to post it here.

I was on an Eagles' website earlier today, and saw that Don Henley was interviewed for Philly radio recently. In it, he was asked several questions about his tour with Stevie. Additionally, though, when asked why he would be touring with Stevie, his response was that "FM has basically thrown in the towel and he had time so why not."

Is he just hypothesizing?? Has he some information we do not from the powers that be?? It seems very odd that he would be the one speculating on this, especially after recent comments from Mick. I mean, I know he's had some unkind (read: bitchy) things to say about his own band as of late, but to drag another well-known band into a mix of assumptions is another. So I'm wondering if he knows something that we don't from conversations with SN...?? Or what exactly is going on??

Thoughts?? Comments??

I don't think I'd read very much into it.
BTW, I love the glowing reasoning behind his tour with Stevie. The man is not a diplomat by any stretch.

Not in the slightest.
I'm glad, although I figured, others would pick up on it...

I almost wonder, as someone else here had mentioned, if she asked him to do this tour.

Exclamation What a tool

"FM has basically thrown in the towel"

WTH is he talking about....does he mean with the SYW tour or completely.

Sorry to his fans, but everything I read about him screams TOOL!

It seems to me that people have been plotting the death of Fleetwood Mac pretty much since Peter Green quit.

It was all over after Green quit.
It was all over after Jeremy quit.
It was all over after they cancelled the "Bare Trees" tour.
It was all over after they cancelled the "Mystery To Me" tour.
It was all over after the "Fake Mac" disaster.
It was all over after Bob quit.
It was all over after Chris & John divorced and Stevie & Lindsey split.
It was all over after "Tusk" didn't do as well as hoped.
It was all over after they did solo albums.
It was all over after Lindsey quit.
It was all over after Christine & Stevie decided to no longer tour with FM.
It was all over after Stevie quit.
It was all over after Mick split up the "Time" band.
It was all over after Christine retired.

Fleetwood Mac: It's been all over since 1970! Hey Don, I'll believe it when I see it!

IMO, I think he meant "thrown in the towel" from touring for awhile/end of the last leg of the Say You Will tour. I don't think he meant thrown in the towel for good. I doubt seriously that Stevie would tell Don something like that anyway, unless it was public knowledge first.

Right, and that was my whole point. Why would he even think about mentioning it if there was no truth to it?!? I just see no need in him involving himself in this matter if there is nothing on which to base it. There's obviously a lot of tension within the Eagles currently, but I was just curious as to what would compel him* to make such comments about another high-profile music group. I'm figuring -- like others have said -- that the poster may have misunderstood and it was the Eagles who have thrown in the towel, and not FM.

* = A reason that does not concern him being a bumbling, tactless individual.

Possible dumb question: Did Fmac sell more concert tickets in the late 70s/early 80s than the Eagles? Has Fmac sold more records than the Eagles? Doesn't Don hold this snotty attitude against them still to this day?

I still have hope that one day soon Christine will say: "Oh what the f*ck i'll come out and play 20, yes only 20 US show just for the money. My garden needs a new fence."

I totally agree..."grrr I guess I could do with a new pair of 24carat gold sneakers."

I think it might happen...although I always get the impression that Christine spend less of her money on drugs and invested better.
