Neil Diamond fills venues pretty consistenly, yet we were upgraded from nosebleeds to better seats to fill in a few empty areas. Are you counting the 3,000 seats with obstructed vews behind the stage (which I rarely see used at a concert unless it's center stage or something?) Like, if a 19,000 seat venue now has a 16,000 seat capacity, is that manipulating the numbers? I'm just wondering how that works.
No, I'm not including rear stage seating. Fleetwood Mac has used a 180 (degree) configuration on this tour (like most artists do), and that's what I'm referring to.

Compared to the the first Philly play on the SYW tour (same venue, but with a different name then..)

May 19, 2003 First Union Center Philadelphia, PA
16,795 total tickets of 16,795 tickets available
100% sellout
$1,563,275

As close to legit as a "sellout" can be.

This Chicago Tribune article, Too Old to Rock, mentioned Fleetwood Mac and talked about the drawing power of oldsters. This is the FM excerpt.

http://backtorockville.typepad.com/b...15707a17e3970b

The only other rock act in the top 10 was Bon Jovi, whose frontman is 47. Pollstar's top 10 this year includes John/Joel, the Eagles ( Don Henley and Glenn Frey are 61 and 60, respectively) and Fleetwood Mac (only Lindsay Buckingham, 59, is under 60).

How sustainable can this business be when so many key players could be cashing retirement checks?

LOL at the listed capacity figure. ~16,000 seats were originally made available on the manifest.

Still a high ticket average close to $100... But wow, to even be in the top 10 with those numbers is interesting.... I think these promoters take turns submitting their numbers... There's got to be acts out there clearing more then this.

LOL.

If we're lucky maybe FM will be asked to open for the Jonas Brothers.

While they are clearly making money this tour, the numbers seem to discourage them going to Europe or Australia--not because they would lose money but with band illness happening at this stage of the tour, I don't think they could go abroad without a long, long rest this summer.
