Default Is FLEE the best Mac "solo" outting of all time?

Discuss.

Other contenders in my book:

Gift of Screws
Law & Order
Hello There Big Boy!

ETA: Why I said "outting" rather than "album" I do not know.

As times marches on, the Jeremy Spencer & The Children album keeps sounding better & better to me. Too bad it's not been released on CD or for download through official channels (my self-burnt CD-R is from a well-worn LP copy...which is the version I uploaded to my iPod)...I'd love to hear a pristine version of that album again.

It is really a tough call for me to pick the "Best Album by a Fleetwood Mac member outside of Fleetwood Mac".

Here's my "short list" of nominees:

Peter Green - In The Skies
Peter Green Splinter Group - Time Traders
Jeremy Spencer - Jeremy Spencer & The Children
Jeremy Spencer Band - Flee
Danny Kirwan - Midnight In San Juan
Bob Weston - There's A Heaven
Mick Fleetwood's Zoo - I'm Not Me
Bob Welch (Paris) - Big Towne, 2061
Bob Welch - French Kiss
Stevie Nicks -Trouble In Shangri-La
Lindsey Buckingham - Out Of The Cradle
Rick Vito - Crazy Cool
Billy Burnette - Billy Burnette (1980)
Bekka & Billy - Bekka & Billy
Buckingham Nicks - Buckingham Nicks
Dave Mason - Alone Together
Dave Mason - Split Coconut

I'll second that (and third and fourth and fifth, etc. it).
In second place: End Of The Game.
Then a long, long silence until the next album comes up.

Default Pre or post

For post FM Albums i am conflicted

In the Skies number one
followed by

Precious Little and End Of The Game for entirely different reasons

I would also choose a Pre Fleetwood ac Album as Best also but it should go in another Ledge category and there people will be pisssed off because they seem to have a bad feeling about him
However It is included for me because It was after The Fleetwood Mac era of bothh Jeremy Spencer and Peter Green

Dave Mason "Alone Together" one of the best not in a band albums for any group

Yes, I think I was thinking "post-FM" albums. So consequently did not choose Buckingham Nicks, which I would have to add to the running.

I've never heard Flee, I've never come across it in my record shop excursions.. never seen it in mp3 form either...

I'll check it out if I ever find it; never was the biggest JS supporter.

My nominees:
Peter Green - End of the Game, In The Skies
Danny Kirwan - Midnight in San Juan
Lindsey Buckingham - Out of the Cradle
Mick Fleetwood - Visitor

The Paris releases are grand too - always liked them more than Welch's solo ventures - but are perhaps a little derivative. Love how rockin' they are, though!

I know I just can't buy digital music. I throw my money at the record stores, though, don't get me wrong.

Did too much thinking today and compiled a fuller list of my favourite Mac solo outings.

1. Out of the Cradle (LB)
2. Gift of Screws (LB)
3. The Visitor (MF)
4. In the Skies (PG)
5. The End of the Game (PG)
6. Midnight in San Juan (DK)
7. Law and Order (LB)
8. Go Insane (LB)
9. White Sky (PG)
10. Hello There Big Boy (DK)

Honorable mention: Christine Perfect. However, why she covered When You Say I’ll have no idea.

Also, never heard anything from the Time era people. Not even Dave. And I really don’t care for Billy. That Gotta Band John McVie thing isn’t as bad as I once thought it was, but it’s not the type of music I typically find myself grooving on.

Default Where to find Jeremy Spencer and the Children

If you want vinyl you will find it on ebay. I have managed to get the whole album in mp3 form off the internet and it sounds good. There is a CD version out there but I don't know if it is good or not. It is not a Columbia distibution. Pretty much the same deal for Flee as well. -gman

I lost my Children mp3 in a computer crash.

Given the release of In Your Dreams, I'm considering a Top 10:

1. In Your Dreams (SN)
2. Buckingham Nicks (LB/SN)
3. Flee (JS)
4. Gift of Screws (LB)
5. Under the Skin (LB)
6. Law & Order (LB)
7. Out of the Cradle (LB)
8. Go Insane (LB)
9. Hello There Big Boy! (DK)
10. The Visitor (MF)

I'd have to agree with the people that said In the Skies, it is certainly one of the best solo albums to come out of FM.

I'd also like to nominate

Jeremy Spencer and the Children (Jeremy Spencer)
Paris (self titled) (Bob Welch)
Three Hearts (Bob Welch)
Bella Donna (Stevie Nicks) (ok so don't hate me)
King of Hearts (Rick Vito)
Coming Home (Billy Burnette)
Time Traders (Peter Green)
Precious Little (Jeremy Spencer)
Something Big (Mick Fleetwood)
Walking Underwater (Dave Walker)
26 Letters, 12 Notes (Dave Mason) (the only DM album I enjoy)

I'd also say the MFBB album, but it is more of a FM/Vito album with no new songs, so I'll not include it.

I want to include Bekka Bramlett in there somewhere, but I just can't. Against those albums listed above "I Got News For You" just doesn't compare. Hopefully her best album is yet to come?

I'd suspect that the CD version is a bootleg (kind of like the self-titled album that you can buy - looks professional until you look closely). It is a great album but I can't see it ever making it on to an official release.

If anyone wants an mp3 version of JS & Children of God, PM me (and hope the gods don't strike me down). Quality ain't that great but you got to take what you can get sometimes.
