If I ever get good at writing songs I'm gonna find a way to incorperate a slowed down solo/section As for the sped up solos. He could do it just for the sound . I'm recording a song just for fun and I'm speeding up a solo just for the sound of it, even though I can play it at full tempo anyway. Just gives a different tone and frantic-ness. |

My favourite solo (other then ISA from The Dance) has still got to be a the end of "The Chain" on the Rumours album. The tone on that les paul was great.

Another part of the reason he does that is sourced in the man himself, an insecure soul who doesn't see himself as great leadplayer, but is more secure in his fingerstyle-acoustic-guitarplaying and his abilities as a producer. I'm sure that's part of the cut-and-paste-and-fool-around-engineering-approach. It's the way he writes.

The best Lindsey solo I've ever seen is from the Live in Boston DVD on the song ISA. It's funny nobody ever mentions that one, but I've seen a lot of his solos and this one is definitely the cream of the crop. My feeling is he knew it was being taped and so he pulled out all of his tricks and then some for the solo. It blows me away everytime I see it.

Yes, his Tango solos are very very good.

I like the short little guitar pieces at the end of When I See You Again, and Family Man (not the whole song!). They are tight and sweetly beautiful. Also, I love the Guitar on Gypsy.

Here's a lone (loon?) Not That Funny fan.. 1980 live album, f.e.
Just completely over the edge, nuts. Love it. |

There is anotherone quite close in your neighbourhood, Mari! For me, Nothing has moved me more on a live-album than ISA and NTF on Live 1980. I love those versions to death. ISA-on a live-album? 1980 for me. THAT's the best. Not the dance-too clean-controlled, not on Boston-not the right vocal. Not that funny is a gem. My seven year old son totally loves NTF-studio, the Ledge, Given thing, Shuffle Riff and Miranda. Now, is that a son or what?

you raised your son well
Ooh yeah, agree on ISA as well! Maybe it's because this is the first live version NTF I heard, that it made such an impression on me? Anyway, I love those versions, still do. |

Is it wrong that I'm completely and utterly bored of I'm So Afraid live and it's long, long solo?

When the board is bitching about Lindsey's guitar solos, something is definitely wrong.....
