It was nice of Mick to do the chat, but the Moderators really need to do a better job, about a whole load of things. Sure, they did warn people not to type etc and those who did got kicked out, but they seemed to be slightly "trigger-happy" and that resulted in some people being very unfairly kicked out..especially those who happened to for whatever reason re-login during a "silent moment", and then asked a question and then....whoosh!! "x has left the chatroom"...!!
Also, they need to make that screen A LOT bigger, and/or do something about the pace, it looked like all of FM-fandom had overdosed on Red Bull!!! |

Well,
I noticed Mick was avoiding any direct questions about the new album and so I asked him if he'd seen Peter Green lately and surprise surprise he answered almost immediately!! I guess from his very quick reaction to that one that he could read all the questions put to him, and decided to play it safe with the easy ones! |

MICK CHAT/SITE
I must agree with Madformac as I know many feel as though Mick is "getting involved" and "reaching out" and "wants to know what we think" but I can't say I'm optimistic about that. The Knight said in a recent post about how much Mick "really cares about what fans think/want" and how he "wants to get involved" BUT if that is the case, then why did he only answer what he (obvioulsy) wanted to and nothing more? It could be coincidence but if he does have another chat in the future, you'll notice the pattern in what he will and won't talk about (if you haven't already). I realize he's probably under some restrictions as to what he can leak about the new album etc. but if he's suppossedly being so open then why wouldn't they just do a straightforward Q & A so that way ALL of the fans he cares about have their chance to ask their questions AND get their answers? Why has that forum been set up so that Mick can go in ON HIS OWN and post his "news" and no one is allowed to respond/start new threads IN THAT FORUM? (or well, I guess you could but I think they've made it quite clear in the notes that if anyone does post anything in there it will be immediately deleted)
Now I'm not "trying to bash Mick", OK? I've always said I LOVE Mick AS A DRUMMER but I'm sorry, I think these are some things those particular fans that think how this is being "handled" over there is "good" & "true" should consider. JMHO though. John Last edited by wetcamelfood; 11-16-2002 at 12:02 PM.. |

online chats...
We (my employers, CricInfo.com) do online chats with famous sports personalities sometimes: it took us a while, but we figured out the best approach on IRC is to moderate the channel so only designated folks can speak, and ask for questions to be /msg'ed to the moderator for passing on to the interviewer. Makes for a much saner environment!
Obviously, this isn't necessarily possible on a Java chat...
