My theory is that it was over between them once Lindsey publicly shot down a Buckingham Nicks reunion tour. Under normal circumstances, that would have been the end of Fleetwood Mac, but between Christine wanting to come out of retirement and John successfully fighting cancer, the band took precedent over the personal drama (again). It bought that version of Fleetwood Mac nearly four more years and we got a studio album of sorts. However, it was obvious the Stevie-Lindsey dynamic continued to deteriorate. I don’t think there was a way for her to bring herself to record an entire album with him.
