Metaphorically I feel like Almost Simon has by just posting the top 50 portion of the article, given us tickets to a concert we really want to go to. But it turns out the tickets are only for the opening act.

Hey, you know guys, I'm feeling a LOT of hatred for the Queen of FM here lately.
And I don't know what's up with that. Because it makes me feel really uncomfortable. Because that hatred should at least TEN FOLD what it is. #nasty #lying #bitter #hateful #skank

Don't Stop as the highest reanking Christine song? Say You Love Me deserves that honor and should be #3. The Chain should be #1.
Glad to see Dragonfly, Tell Me, any number of Green tunes, and Future Games on the list. But Where, oh where, is Station Man? |

I agree that Christine's songs are out of order... I'd put You Make Loving Fun and Say You Love Me above Don't Stop. And I don't really have any issue with Dreams at #1. It's a killer track that I suspect only us die-hards are sick of because it became rather stale on stage some time in the early 80s (I'm perhaps being generous, for some). But to me the song, as recorded, is near perfection. |

It is a kind of pop perfection that is exquisite. Yes. And while I think other FM songs better show off the band's versatility and ingenuity (The Chain, Tusk, Hold Me, even Little Lies) Dreams has the virtue of a great vocal, and outstanding instrumentation. Anyone coming to the band through this song knows John's a killer bassist, Mick is a rock solid drummer with a unique and economical flair, Christine's a great (and underrated) texturalist at the keys, and Lindsey's an unparalleled arranger-guitarist whose guitar fills are parts in themselves. So there's that... |

However, this song is so boring without the band having weird idiosyncrasies on their instruments. Plus, the whole BuckVie sound (including bass/drums) make it interesting. It's just a boring song made into a stellar track! I give this song a lot of credit. Also make no mistake: Thunder does happen whether it's raining or not!

Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie have confirmed they chose to ditch Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac due to his feud with ex-lover Stevie Nicks.
Lindsey left the band acrimoniously last year, and later claimed he had been kicked out of the band by Stevie, 70, who he alleged took exception to his “smirking” behaviour at a MusiCares benefit concert and refused to share a stage with him ever again. Comparing the warring duo’s relationship to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s tempestuous marriages, the group’s leader Mick told Britain’s Mojo magazine, “Support really could not be given to ask the situation to continue. It was too challenging.” The veteran drummer disagreed that the group’s guitarist was fired, but did admit the famed guitarist was forced out due to the animosity between him and his one-time lover. Mick, 71, explained: “The truth is, call it what you want, a parting of company took place, and it had to take place, and it was supported by the remaining band members around something that for sure was a major problem to two people – Lindsey and Stevie.” Christine, 75, collaborated on a joint album with her former colleague as recently as 2017, believed the rest of the group had to “make a choice” as she feared for their future if action wasn’t taken. “It was the only route we could take, because there was too much animosity between certain members of the band at that point, there was just no way it could’ve gone on as a five-piece, a group with Lindsey in the band. So it was either just completely break up the band or make the best of it,” she confessed. The 69-year-old initially sued his old bandmates, but the case was settled in December, leading to him expressing a willingness to return to the Fleetwood Mac fold if invited. However, he underwent open heart surgery last month and is now recovering. https://canoe.com/entertainment/musi...vie-nicks-feud |

Ooh la la. Thanks for posting.
This confirms what we thought. Not all members of the band were mad at him. There's no secret heinous conduct by Lindsey that they have been concealing for the world's sake, which would justify his ouster. No magic elixir which will prove that Stevie, as always, is absolved of all guilt and responsibility. It was the age old feud between Lindsey and Stevie and they backed the money horse, no matter how much Lindsey had given to them from the seventies to the present. Christine's comment that they either had to kick him out or disband says it all. Well, gee how could you possibly disband when all that money was lying on the table. Better to stab Lindsey in the back (well, um, heart actually) and go on with the show. Last edited by michelej1; 03-18-2019 at 04:35 PM.. |
