Healthier sources of protein for breakfast:

soy milk
eggs
hard cheese (mix some cheddar in your scrambled eggs or make an omelet)
soft cheese (put some cream cheese on your bagel)
smoked salmon/lox (or other smoked fish like cod & halibut)
protein shake/powder

all of which are much more efficient foods in a weight-loss program.

It was a vegetarian patty- sorry- I should have mentioned that. Morningstar makes the best! Thanks for your suggestions, though. I love cheese!

Although that is what Atkins folks do!

I'm with the excercise folks on this one. Yesterday I ate plenty and was not hungry at all. I went to the gym and wound up 200+ calories below my recommended amount for the day. Awesome stuff.

Yeah, it felt great. I tend to lose motivation but this new gym is awesome so the motivation level is good right now. Actually the calorie deficit was 400+, thank God because today isn't going as well!

Have you tried that Lipton green tea on the go? It's like little tea straws that you empty into a bottle of water, you just shake it up and drink it. I think you're only supposed to drink half of a straw, but for flavor I have to have use the whole thing. They're sugar free, and green tea is good for the metabolism.

No. Whole Foods doesn't have Lipton. And I never buy it anyway. Is that cold tea, then? Sounds pretty good. I don't drink much green tea anymore b/c the tannins bother my stomach. And actually, I don't really drink cold tea. But i could. I do peppermint infusion - it's weird, it gives you lots of energy, but has no caffeine, and peppermint tastes good cold. I buy Yogi brand tea, usually.
Does it have other flavors? That would be great for when it's hotter and I'm on the go with my bike and shizz. easier than carrying around a container of liquid.
Wait - why would green tea have sugar in the first place?

Also - cheese is not good for you. (this isn't for you, Tracye). It's terrible for your intestines and your colon. It's like coating your insides with....glue...also it's not easily digested, gives most people bloat and gas.
It might be okay for dieting (not that great, really, but convenient protein and fat) but to say it's "good for you" is not accurate. It's quite high in fat, doesn't have that much protein, and is devoid of other nutrients except calcium.

I eat cheese willy nilly too. Well, at least willy. I buy brie too much, and it's gone in like, 2 days usually.
and one of my rotating staples is grilled cheese - with Kraft pepperjack slices, the real processed kind! Those work the best for grilled cheese.
I used to eschew cheese, though.

Ya know, Amber, sometimes you really suck. We eat string cheese around here like no one else.
