It is a concert, but the proceeds are going to the democrats. That's why she did this tour, to get people involved and to raise $$. She retired from touring in 2000, but felt she needed to do this.

I find it hard to believe that she is getting no $$$ for this. But, if so, then good on her!!!

I think just part of the sells are going to charity. I read that some of the ticket prices can be a tax write-off. But lets not forget what she is getting paid by the venues and promoters! Babs is not walking away empty handed.
I do wish Barbra would realize that she not a politican, she is a singer and an actress. She has her website to post her opinions and other forums she could use besides a concert. This is one of the things that has made me push myself away from Barbra in the past few years.
Like I said its not going to keep me from seeing her, but I hope she reconsiders doing it in further shows.

Fat chance on that though....

I used to be able to hit the high notes in my heyday, but that all ended when I had a boyfriend who was in a band that practiced in my frontroom and I got to sing whilst tippling. Sad to say, alcohol relaxes the vocal chords and I strained them and now sound much like Suzanne Pleshette, that smoky deep kinda voice...you know, like whiskey and cigarettes are my life (yet I do neither!)

I've got that Janis Joplin rasp! but I can carry a tune and I do a mean GYPSY...
ah well, not that any of YEW will ever hear me!
