God! Your interpretations made my day As a citizen of non-English speaking country I have to admit that often I was singing her songs in more a Suahili language, adding some bits of my native language. I can't even write it down here... there are no such words in this universe But you'd just laugh hearing me singing them!

To me, I thought she was referring to the passion and love and what little of both were left in a relationship.So eventually; "it seemed to be the only thing thats DIED in the light." Because the 3 lyrics before that makes me think of this:
A guy whom she loves does not trust her completely.(ie: "Somewhere out in the back of your mind")So then he doubts her and thinks she's doing stuff behind his back, or has a hidden agenda, which isn't true.(ie:"Comes your real life and the life that you know") This leads to "It seems like it was the creation of some of those same old things" (ie:accusations)
