Cutting out songs from ‘Say You Will’
Many of the reviews I read back in 2003 about SYW was that at 18 songs, it was just too long. As much as I love new material from FM, I had to agree, it could have been a tighter album.
So if you had to make it a ‘standard’ 10 songs CD, what would you pick? My choices: 1. What’s the World Coming To? 2. Illume 3. Thrown Down 4. Say You Will 5. Peacekeeper 6. Steal your Heart Away 7. Bleed to Love Her 8. Destiny Rules 9. Everybody Finds Out 10. Say Goodbye |

It's fun to try this. But my ultimate conclusion is: It can't be done; not with these songs. In fact, I think it's flaw is that it's still too short. Shoulda been a double album!

10 Songs isn't standard. I'm going with 13, what Fleetwood Mac had on Tango, BTM and Time.
1. Whats the World Comning To 2. Murrow Turning Over in His Grave 3. Illume 4. Thrown Down 5. Peacekeeper 6. Destiny Rules 7. Come 8. Everybody Finds Out 9. Steal Your Heart Away 10. Miranda 11. Silver Girl 12. Say Goodbye 13. Goodbye Baby I would've put Smile At You in for Silver Girl because I like the Say You Will version but it would be worth leaving it off if maybe Stevie would release it later a bit closer to its demo versions.

I'm not good at sequencing, so these are not in any particular order:
1) RTTG 2) Come 3) Thrown Down 4) SYHA 5) Illume 6) WTWCT 7) Smile At You 8) Red Rover 9) Destiny Rules 10) Miranda 11) Say Goodbye |

As a fan, I loved getting all 18 tracks & the additional bonus tracks on the special edition. However that aside, the CD was just too bloated and self indulgent for the casual fan & I agree with Stevie, The sequencing sucked!!
1. Say You Will 2. Bleed To Love Her 3. Thrown Down 4. Miranda 5. Illume 6. Red Rover 7. Destiny Rules 8. Peacekeeper 9. Running Though The Garden 10. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave 11. Everybody Finds Out 12. Steal Your Heart Away 13. Say Goodbye 14. Goodbye Baby And issue a 2 CD Special Edition with all the additional tracks for all the die hards. 1. Whats The World Coming To 2. Not Make Believe 3. Come 4. Smile At You 5. Love Minus Zero 6. Silver Girl 7. Peacekeeper (live from AOL Sessions) 8. Say You Will (live from AOL Sessions) |

What's The World Coming To?
Murrow Illume Thrown Down Miranda Red Rover Say You Will Peacekeeper Silver Girl Everybody Finds Out Steal Your Heart Away note: I love RTTG as a song but I don't like what Lindsey did with it nor I do like Stevie's vocal so that's why I gave it the boot. I think she needs to re-record that song with another producer and sing it on a day when she hasn't got a cold!

I didn't spend too much time on this, but I tried to sequence the album in a way that sounds good to my ears (I included 2 Lindsey solo tracks that could have been placed on the album had they decided to include them):
1. Say You Will 2. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave 3. Not Make Believe 4. Wait For You 5. Down On Rodeo 6. Running Through The Garden 7. Come 8. Miranda 9. Everybody Finds Out 10. Peacekeeper 11. What's The World Coming To 12. Thrown Down 13. Destiny Rules 14. Steal Your Heart Away 15. Say Goodbye I tend to be a much bigger Stevie fan than Lindsey fan... but I've always preferred more of Lindsey's material from his Gift of Screws sessions through Say You Will over her contributions (with the exception of Thrown Down, Not Make Believe, Everybody Finds Out & the fantastic Destiny Rules... which btw, I would've named the album instead of Say You Will). So that's why this selection is a bit Lindsey heavy... but then again, so was Tusk! Someone else try them sequenced this way and let me know what you think...
