Default nicknames...

am I on a thread roll or what?

I'm curious...do you have a nickname or nicknames? what are they and what are their origins?

EDIT: Brandon is not allowed to respond to this thread.

when i was really little, my grandfather called me spud.

when i was in elementary school, my 4-year-old autistic neighbor couldn't say my name, so he called me dewey. that stuck for ... a long time. i don't know how he got dewey out of carrie, but he was autistic, so i didn't ask.

now i just answer to "hot shiz."

now that is what I call a nickname.

I've had a variety of nicknames in my life, with significance on a few of them. first was "Butch", which my dad has always called me since I was little. they had to stop for a short while when I was younger, as my brother was only 3 and couldn't pronounce butch so he would say "'mere bitch!"

in high school, I was branded with the nickname "That 80s Boy" by my drama teacher, for my unbridled obsession with anything 1980s. it became my gimmick in high school, so I was always good for busting out the 80s tunes when we did a play or whatnot. senior year we got a new drama teacher, who insisted she rechristen everyone with her own nicknames - I got "Georgie", as she said the 80s made her think of Boy George. go figure.

these days, it's been a bevy of ploys on my real name - Nicketh and Nickiepoo (lol don't ask) are the newest two.

Well, my real name is Catherine, but I go by Kate or Katie. My great grandmother spelled her name the same way, and her nicknames as well.

I have sooo many other nicknames, but Katums is probably the most popular. I can't remember who started calling me by that, but it stuck for years. It's such a cutesy name, too, which is definitely ironic.

Another one is "Fivehead." Long story short, I was in Drawing class, and we were doing face proportions. Well, my art teacher told us to measure the length of our noses, and see how big it was compared to the forehead. My forehead? Larger. So I was like, hey, my forehead is a bit bigger. My art teacher? "Oh, Kate does have a rather large forehead!" I covered my forehead with my bangs, just to piss her off, and a friend of mine was all "oh, shut up, fivehead," and that was that. To this day, a few of my friends refer to me as Fivehead.

Oh, and this is not really a nickname, but my boyfriend & some of my other guy friends call me Joan Jett. I guess it's because I have a Jett-like haircut. The MOAR you know, amirite?

Kate also goes by 'k7.' Little-known ~*fact*~.

My mom called me 'Boo Boo' a hot minute ago. Like Yogi & Boo-Boo, I guess. Lame, I know.

Nowadays it's more or less Gregums, Greggie, Gweggah and other variations of it, or if you're Kate, Sugartits. I have a nice support system going.

My mom picked my name specifically b/c it doesn't have a nickname. However, my best friend calls me "ber", and my mom's nickname for me is "Mima", which is a hybrid of "Miha", a la my mexican babysitter when I was two.

I love reading this kind of stuff.

as for me:

Jizzy, Jazzy, Jaz(z) - all names that you guys call me, but lots of friends do too (well, not Jizzy).

J, Jase - the most popular nickname I have had since high school

Turkey - my dad's nickname for me since I was little

Frog Jr. - my great-uncle's nickname for me (he calls my dad Frog, don't know why)

J. Dub - my ghetto nickname

my ghetto friends also frequently call me Jaserious. maybe it has something to do with the fact that I can describe a Chinese waterfall in my sleep.

google it.
