Default who was Murrow?

WOW! I'm so excited about seeing him (them). I certainly can't critique the new album because I'm tending to listen to his songs, althogh Stevie's songs are good too. Is it just me or is this the first Mac album ever on which Lindsey actually out performs Stevie? And Stevie fans shouldn't take that the wrong way.

So, anyway... who is Murrow... and does anyone else hear background noise towards the end the reminds us of the Beatles "I Am the Walrus"?

Default Sharon ..

Nah it's not the first time he's outperformed Stevie ... he does it all the time
Haha just kidding, I couldn't resist!

Ed Murrow was the US journalist who went up against Senator Joseph McCarthy's blacklisting and the rest of the McCarthyistic surrouding anti-Communism in circa 1950s US (and here in Australia, too). He is very much *the* icon of independent journalism, and there was a reference made about him in The Insider by the character of the 60 Minutes interviewer (who's name I forget .. Jim someone). That's all I know. ...That.... and he makes the subject for a mean, rockin song!!!

Edward R. Murrow is the single most important figure in independent radio and television journalism.

Thumbs up I am the walrus

Yes, I also heard the "I am the Walrus" similarities at the end. I keep thinking someone is going to yell out at any moment: I am the eggman, wooooo!!!! Hhahaahhahaa! It sounds really cool with the guitar over the top of it.
Chris
P.S.: When are Paul McCartney and Lindsey going to get together for a collaborative effort?!

Murrow is my favorite song on SYW. I think it's interesting that he says "Ed Murrow had a child/the damn thing went wild." If he is referring to Murrow being the "father" of broadcast journalism, that's really interesting!

I do have to say, I almost choked when I saw the title of this thread. I am in the news business, and Edward R. Murrow is indeed, the single most important figure in broadcast journalism. But this totally makes me feel better:

Default Buckingham/McCartney

REALLY???? I would love to find something they worked on together!!! Paul's delicate melodies with Lindsey's blistering guitar!! Bouncing ideas off each other; what a superb combo!
Does anyone know any more?????

Heart I bet Paul would love that

How could he not? He's worked with many great guitar players in the last few years, like Steve Miller, Jeff Lynne, David Gilmour, and many others...Why not Lindsey?
