Temporary Talk
I was just looking at old reviews and saw this in the Miami Herald, November 7,
1997: Perhaps it's the soap-opera aspects of Fleetwood Mac's '70s lifestyle, or maybe some people just have too much time on their hands, but this reunited group ignites its fair share of rumors. Take the new Christine McVie song Temporary One , wherein she sings, ``The river goes on and on / And the sea that divides us is a temporary one / And the bridge will bring us back together.'' It's obviously about the reunion, right? Wrong, according to McVie: ``It's about my family in England. I flip-flop between here [California] and England; that song was basically about spending more time with them, the bridge between oceans.'' What you can count on Saturday at Fleetwood Mac's sold-out concert is a shot of nostalgia. Most of the songs from Fleetwood Mac and Rumours are on the set list, plus one or two apiece from subsequent albums Tusk , Mirage and Tango in the Night , as well as four new tunes from The Dance . Also, Lindsey Buckingham will refashion lavish production numbers like Big Love and his solo hit Go Insane into solo acoustic-guitar performances. |
