Today I looked out my front door.
And in the yard I saw a rat running
around a rabbit. The rabbit just
kindly moved on about his business
of eating whatever was green in the
yard or North field. The squirrels
mostly stayed to themselves.

Now you ask what about the snakes?
Of course I have a snake story for you.
But it seems I must introduce a new
animal to you. One that I have not
written of before. They can be very
dangerous. These four legged creatures
have tusks. You did see Old Yeller?
Yes indeed, wild hogs. Or more likely,
a mix of wild boar and domesticated pigs.

My uncle has always liked hunting them.
So he comes over and we walk through
the fields down near the swamp where
Amos Moses once lived. Those pigs have
been eating our crops and they must pay
the price.

On the way down to the swamp guess what
my uncle stepped on? You guessed right,
a big ole moccasin. My uncle seemed to
have a spring in his step. Luckily we had
took the precaution of taking what I like to
call the chopper. The snake is no more.

As for the pig, well that's another story...

My mother's clothes dryer quit working so I went
by to take a look. It sits on her back porch, so at
least this story takes place outside so to speak.

A press of the "on" switch and the dryer doesn't
turn, so I have to take the back panels off to see
what's the matter. After a thorough cleaning I
make my way into the exhaust port right after
the fan. Couldn't see anything from the way the
exhaust was angled. Time for the "mirror" treat-
ment. I'd thought about reaching my hand up
in there but didn't want to pull out a dead rat
with my bare hands.

What did the mirror reveal you ask? One big
ole' snake. He had been tangled up in the fan
for a few days. And you'd think he would have
been dead - but no! I poked him and he moved.
I used my MacGyver handbook and found an old
coat hanger and used it to unwrap and pull him
out of that space.

Though his end wasn't PETA friendly, it certainly
made for an interesting adventure.

It sounds like he wanted to keep warm but he went alittle to far and got into the fan.

Have some kitty cats around like that vid I posted in the share thread.

They had some snake meat for supper.

I watched that video. It was hard not to laugh. But,
if I had a cat, there's no way I would have let him"play"
with that alligator. That was crazy dangerous.

Yes that alligator would just take one gulp the kitty will be gone.

I guess he was not in the mood for a fluffy fur ball for lunch that day so he said see you later to the kitty.

As I was raking leaves today .I accidentally raked over a Garter snake as he/she was trying to keep warm on this cold day.

He gave me some time to photograph and vid clips before he return home.

I handled my ex-neighbors python years ago which was cool but looking at this garter which make him a size of a worm comparing against the python.

He was vary slow going back home which I cant blame him after a rake going over his head and body and disturb from a nice warm home.I hope he will be OK.

Since I against animal killings No I dont want to knock him off with the rake.Let him live.

That's a gorgeous snake. I think snakes are amazing, and I'm also against killing animals. We don't get many types of snakes over here. We do have adders in the dunes at the beach, and grass snakes are fairly common, but that's about it.

A House In Canada Was Infested With Over 100 Snakes, Residents Shockingly Do Not Burn It Down

Snakes on a plain! No, seriously, what is going on in Regina. posted on Oct. 21, 2014, at 11:41 a.m.

Tanya Chen BuzzFeed Staff

A family near Regina, Saskatchewan, recently discovered 102 snakes slithering along various "cracks" around their country home.

An actual snake found in the family’s home.

According to the local Salthaven West wildlife shelter (who initially got the phone call), the family first found an infestation of garter snakes in their stone basement. But as they started searching, they uncovered a slew of tiny snakes slithering in various cracks and crevasses throughout the entire house.

“They were starting to end up everywhere in the house,” Megan Lawrence, the Director of the Regina wildlife shelter, told CBC News. “They were in tight spaces: Cracks in the floors, cracks in the walls, between boxes, underneath things — anywhere they could get into basically.”

The Salthaven West shelter counted 56 snakes in this batch, and posted the image to their Facebook page.

But as they started to capture and contain some of the unwanted house guests, they found even more. “We just were, you know, picking up boxes and things off the floor and just found them and just caught them by hand,” said Lawrence.

Apparently snakes hibernating in Canadian homes is common this time of the year.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum’s Head of Research and Collections says they get a lot of calls about snakes wriggling into peoples’ homes to seek warmth: “The snakes know winter is coming.”
