Default Dylan on Broadway -should FM follow?

'Prolific singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has become the latest musical icon to have his repertoire adapted for the stage. The Times They Are A-Changin', directed by famed choreographer Twyla Tharp, who most recently had audiences rockin' out to Billy Joel hits in the Tony winner Movin' Out, opens Oct. 26 on the Great White Way. Previews begin Sept. 25 at the Brooks Atkinson Theater. '

Do people think this is a route FLEETWOOD MAC should go down, especially since they already have the 'in built soap opera' element?
Or would it be the worst idea ever?

If anyone thinks it should happen, how would you like to see it done?

Fleetwood Macbeth? Hmmm. I like it.

But I can also see Lindsey going insane as Hamlet (while seeing the ghost of Mick) and driving Ophelia(Stevie) to madness too, as he tries to decide whether to make music for the masses or remain true to his artistic integrity.
John as Yorrick?
Christine as the attractive mother Hamlet has the hots for?

I think the idea is a cool one in theory, but somehow I think it would suck in reality.

We've had quite a couple of those in the West End recently:

Mama Mia (Abba)
We will rock You (Queen)

There was also a Rod Stewart musical which I think is called Tonight's the Night (but I may be wrong)

There was talk a couple of years ago of a Fleetwood Mac musical called guess what? Rumours

I'm not sure the band would have any choice if someone decided to do it.

Noo. All musicals based on bands suck (with the exception of Mama Mia). As a Queen fan, I must say that WWRY's music is a piece of ****. They just made a bad attempt to connect all of Queen's songs to fit a plot, and failed miserably. IE: Hammer To Fall, a song about the Cold War, turned into a song about two people fighting and needing to make up. If it happens, it'll suck. I assure you.

'Lennon' was a huge flop too and closed early I think. But then Yoko had 'approval' over the content which probably didn't help.

There's a Janis Joplin thing here now that is supposed to be good. Anyone seen it?
It would be better if it were a play that used their actual music, rather than a musical with other people singing their music. That way, everyone won't go "awww, the people who sang those songs sucked!"

I just heard on the radio that the music and production is by Big Brother and the Holding Company! It's kind of a biographical reading letters thing with music. Here is a review that explains it better. It sounds pretty cool, as far as these things go. The guy's criticisms are in the vein of "quibble-ish" (we don't get much of the story of her life, etc) so that is a good sign.

It would be cool if it was done well.

It's probably one of my secret fantasies to write it...or the Fleetwood Mac bio-pic (or mini-series...I don't know how anyone could get the entire story into 2 and 1/2 hours and do it justic)

I think Rankin-Bass should do an animated feature on Fleetwood Mac using the voices of the actual members.
