Default I feel like sharing

Since I'm in a good mood, I figure I'll share some recordings I have. I'm sure many of you have them, too, but, there ARE new people here, too.

A live "Silver Springs" from 1977

Christine singing "Gypsy"

Hurray! I don't have them.

Wow, Stevie is on fire!

Great clips! Btw - was Christine's Gypsy a sound check? Kinda sounds like one - with Stevie not available to do it.

K. That was the best version of Silver Springs ever.

I didn't download this, so I need to ask: Is this a 1977 performance or the performance from Minneapolis 1976?

Here, here. Creepy for sure. Like it's running away from a glue factory on Three Mile Island.

Very Cool - thank you so much, Silver Springs is my favorite Stevie song, and I had never heard this! I didn't take very good car of my little Japanese b-side — played it so much it sounds like it was pressed in the 20's!

David, that horse is so wild, and I can't stop staring at it. I wonder, did you use a Zoopraxiscope to shoot that?

Ha! It's a wonder they didn't lose her to spontaneous combustion, like the drummers in Spinal Tap. POOF!
Anyway, I had to come back to the thread because that cut was so amazing. Has she said "even though you tried" at the end of other versions? I don't remember that. I want want want to timetravel and see that performance!

Incredible, isn't it? And Lindsey's solo is a perfect dash, "Oh yeah? Well take this!" Mick's drumming also lifts the song to some incredible heights, pushing it up from underneath like a series of cresting waves.

How much of an orchestra did they have behind them at this point? The band sounds very full on this recording, but in a way that seems totally organic, which makes it very powerful.

hmm, you say what I wanted to say. Stevie is brilliant and passionate, and Lindsey is so good filling it with pure rawness. I love it when he's forced to do it on intuition and not in an "orchestral" disciplin. Same for mick.

sigh....good times...

I have the same performance (slightly different quality though) on a bootleg labeled Kansas 4-1-77.
