Lines That Apply To You
I thought we could start a thread where we post a specific FM lyrics (not an entire song) and why it's hitting home right now.
Did she make you cry Make you break down Shatter your illusions of love Is it over now- do you know how Pick up the pieces and go home. This reminds me of my mother. We're not really speaking, and those lyrics basically explain how I feel. One day she lost it and I literally had to "pick up the pieces". It broke me. Anyways...hopefully that's not too much of a downer. Post away. I think the true test of a great song is if you can listen to it and think "Hey I totally get that!"

Back to the Gypsy that I was. No doubt. Everyone says I'm such a dreamer and a anderer.

"We see no change in sight / watching her decline"
"Maybe it's just something else / That you can't tell me / Maybe it's in the way that you / Look away from me..." "It's not like any words / Need to be said / Well you always know when something's wrong, / My friend..." A song I've rewritten in my own head to apply to myself and my situation. |

But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to You invent the the future that you want to face But, the ONE lyric that MOST applies to me isn't a Fleetwood Mac lyric. It's a lyric by Stephen Stills: Fear is the lock and laughter the key to your heart

And the woman may be so awestruck
And the woman may truely care But the woman is so tired So the woman disappears Bella Donna speaks to me And the one I've found to be most fitting in a situation lasting over a few years. It's probably Lindsey's simplest lyric, but I love it Fate takes time

now, i'm not sure. there are definitely many that do - but i'd have to tihnk about it. truth be told, i have been taking a break from FM and SN for a little while. i think i was suffering from overkill by the end of the fall. i needed to discover what other music was out there that i was missing. but they're like old friends - i know they'll always be there for me when i need them.

No one looked, I walked by...just an invitation would've been just fine.
You feel good. I said it's funny that you understood. I knew you would. When you were good, you were very-very good. Kind of woman that'll haunt you...it was close, to being, in heaven. Once in a million years a lady like her, rises. (okay, those last two are my fantasy ones)

Wow...there are SO MANY.
The first thing that comes to mind: I spent much time crying in the car to I Miss You when TISL first came out. The line "The 'invisible girl' / That was my name / She walks in and walks out / And I'm sorry now" (and Stevie's delivery of the line) just killed me at the time. I was going through major changes within myself...learning to stand up for myself, and this line just epitomizes for me how I had felt my whole life until that point. At the time, it had mostly to do with my parents ridiculing a relationship I was in (and still am, 8 wonderful years later!). I am grateful that every time I listen to that song for the rest of my life, I will be reminded of how meaningful and absolutely essential that period in my life was. Great thread! |

The first time I ever heard Beauty and the Beast was last April, the day the Pope died. I cried and cried and cried.
Something similar with Desert Angel, with the whole Iraq war and all that. Its relevance just seemed to jump forward a decade or so. |

You stole mine. I'll also add: "The dreams of a lifetime Told me wrong Everything is all right And now it's gone Don't blame me Please be strong I know I'm not wrong" and "lovin' you isn't the right thing to do"
