This band couldn't fart in a mason jar within a month. It doesn't matter how prolific Neil or Mike may be, unfortunately it will not be their call to make.

This all sounds strangely familiar...but this new lineup will reinvigorate this band and it's going to be all new again...
A Lindsey-led Fleetwood Mac could never record an album or EP in a month. Most bands can and do these days.

Fleetwood Mac is so far removed from any comparison to "most bands".

You're partially correct. A Lindsey led Fleetwood Mac can't record in under a month because it wouldn't involve Mike Campbell coming to somebody's rescue with a buffet of unused tracks that can be aligned to 40 year old demos.

And as I already said, if recording new music were remotely a priority why are some members of the band doing private corporate gigs as of last week?

But back to all the heated discussion about everyone's timeless favorites from Behind the Mask...

Not to mention that Stevie in her solo career hasn't recorded any actual 'new' music in quite some time (that involved her writing new music and lyrics, coming up with melodies and chord progressions, collaborating with producers on the sound etc). With 24 KG she just handed off some of her decades old demos with the instruction that they were to be recorded just like the demo, so it was able to be done very quickly and in my opinion the songs suffered as a result of that. I call it the 'Without You Syndrome'.

But you'd still like that 3-4 song ep of new material?

....Your point is exactly why "new music and deep cuts is too much to ask of the audience".

Do the new music, but please...Play Gypsy with the 15 minute intro for me just one more time, the last ten years of touring wasn't enough.

It's like asking the waitress to go down the salad dressing list, asking for one on the side, knowing the entire time you had no intention of even using the salad dressing in the first place.
LOL maybe I didn't phrase it well. I do think playing 3-4 new songs AND several deep cuts might be too much for a tour introducing Neil and Mike to the audience. They should do one or the other, not both. I didn't like any of the new songs on the Dance, only liked 4 songs from Say You Will, and only one song from the EP. Actually, I'm not a big fan of Mirage or Tango, either. But I love Behind the Mask, plus As Long As You Follow, No Questions Asked, Love Shines, and Heart of Stone. Because of this, I am more interested in hearing new music from this version of FM than if Lindsey was still in the band. This is something I didn't realize until just now, actually.

I didn't say anything about Gypsy, and I never knew about a 15 minute opening to it.

So...I'd like 3-4 new songs... but only from this lineup...
But I'd rather hear them perform deep cuts first...
But I have no interest hearing Temporary One, Sweet Girl, Bleed to Love Her, My Little Demon, or anything else post Tango unless it's from the BTM era...
But yeah, I'd still like that 3-4 song EP of new material from the current lineup.

Besides, the new songs from the Dance were the bathroom breaks, same thing with their last EP. I'm thrilled to never hear Temporary One, Sweet Girl, Bleed to Love Her, and My Little Demon again.
I really liked Temporary One and Sweet Girl.

Those were good songs!

They can do it fast if Finn already has something worked up that they can just put some harmonies on, and Stevie can put one of her old poems to a Campbell instrumental.

They won't be too picky if they're going to do this. Fleetwood Mac will go from "Perfectionism" to "Good enough", I imagine. You can achieve the latter a lot more quickly.

Sorry, Mitzo!

But even though you like them, do you like them enough that you'd rather hear them at the expense of other songs? I'd rather hear Angel, Straight Back, That's Alright, No Questions Asked, even Paper Doll over Sweet Girl. Or Brown Eyes, As Long As You Follow, or Isn't It Midnight over Temporary One. Especially since both those songs are recorded for posterity on the Dance DVD.

More than any other song, I'm really hoping they perform As Long As You Follow, but it seems so unlikely... but that is the one song that would guarantee I would be there to see them in concert.

No I might not prefer them over some of the others you list, although I have never understood the fascination for embarrassing honky-tonk Angel and WTF Paper Doll. I just see those two tunes Temporary One and Sweet Girl as the best new tunes on The Dance. Agreed about As Long as you Follow. It was real group effort with the layered harmonies and I hope for this type of thing in recordings by the new lineup.

Paper Doll sucks (imo) but Angel?? I love the vibe and production on Angel, her songs on Tusk were so perfectly produced. They had that trace of something 'different' that ran all throughout Tusk while still being classic Stevie. Her best collection of songs if you ask me.

Paper Doll- if I could describe this song in one word, it would have to be "why." As in, why did anyone in FM think this would be a good song to record LOL. It's definitely a one of a kind, thank God. I guess it's kind of catchy, but so odd. Actually, it might be interesting live, but downright impossible to sing live.

Angel is also an odd song for me... I feel like it kind of goes on and on and finishes weakly, but since I'd love to hear deep cuts, I'd be fine if they did this live. But I'd prefer That's Alright or Straight Back over Angel. I feel like Stevie could do to Straight Back live what she did to Silver Springs during the Dance.

Her Tusk songs are great but to me Angel is by far the weakest in terms of production, like they just gave up and hammered away at a Hammond organ with overpowering bass, although the vocal is powerful. To me the sound of Angel is a depressing preview of her early solo work. Good songs and vocals diminished by unimaginative production.

I don’t want Stevie to butcher Angel (she doesn’t have the range to do it justice anymore), and I would take Sweet Girl over NQA or especially Paper Doll (grating song). I WOULD rather have That’s Alright or Straight Back, though.

I’ve heard live versions of Brown Eyes and Isn’t It Midnight, so that’s a wash, and Temporary One would fill a different place in the set. I would rather have ALAYF, though.

I see what you mean tbh although I do still like the song, I think it's just the fun vibe of it. I like Stevie's first solo album a lot and maybe half of her second but even then I also have always thought the production just didn't have that something special that was in her FM work. It was still good but there was a missing quality. If you listen to all of Bella Donna and then listen to Gypsy recorded just one year later, that becomes so obvious. What's in Gypsy is nowhere on Bella Donna or Wild Heart. And her later solo albums had terrible production. I know some people like them but for me, yikes. Her songwriting style and voice had changed yes and that 80s production was a big thing yes, but even on Tango in the Night, WISYA which is overall a questionable song that many people think is horrible (although I like it) still has gorgeous music. Can't really say the same about anything on RAL or TOSOTM.

Wellll... I don't hate it at all, and it's definitely an unusual song. I definitely don't skip it, because for me it's almost like a train wreck. The jangly music, pointed lyrics, and not bad vocal by Stevie definitely keeps my interest, I have to admit.

We all have our little favorites. I think Book of Love is one of Lindsey's best songs, but it seems to fly beneath the radar here.
