Default Sad news...Paris albums o.o.p. again

Yes, it is true. Once again, the powers that be have decided that the two great Paris albums aren't worthy of being available for our listening pleasure and have taken them out of print.

moment of silence

There are painfully few available used through Amazon.com, but they're prohibitively expensive ($90!?!? )

I have a better chance of finding them on vinyl here in Finland; actually I've had Big Towne 2061 for some time now. Some tracks on that one are near-perfection; here's hoping that I find the debut from somewhere as well.

Well, I just got a copy of the first album on CD for $18! I've often wondered why that wasn't released as a "two-on-one" CD like a few of his Capitol albums.

I have a mint copy of Big Town, which I procured at my local Goodwill, for the costly sum of one dollar.

This was Bob's band right after he left Fleetwood Mac, right?

The running time of both albums together is longer than a CD will allow. Before they were re-released on CD, I compiled both albums on mp3s back during the glory days of Napster...couldn't get both albums to fit on one CD.

And, since I used a regular Sharpie to label the discs, they're now ruined. DON'T LABEL YOUR HOME BURNED CDs/DVDs WITH A REGULAR SHARPIE!!! Get the ones that are specially designed for CD/DVD labelling.

Yes. The first album had drummer Thom Mooney...he left after the first tour and was replaced by Hunt Sales (Soupy's kid), who later was in David Bowie's "Tin Machine". An interesting tidbit is that both of Paris' drummers had previously spent time in different incarnations of Todd Rundgren's bands. Thom Mooney with The Nazz, Hunt Sales with Runt.

Not really, they've BEEN readily available as import CDs for the last couple of years. It figures, though, that just within weeks of finding out that my home burnt Paris discs were ruined, the officially released ones would go off the market... ...UGH!!

There's some ingredient in the ink of regular sharpies that, over time, will eat through the layers of a CD and corrupt any data on the disc. I've already lost three discs that way...the aforementioned Paris disc, a disc with both of Bob Welch's RCA albums, and a Jeremy Spencer disc with both Jeremy Spencer & the Children and Flee albums. At least I still have the mp3s of the Jeremy Spencer stuff...the Bob Welch/Paris stuff is gone (until I can re-acquire them, that is)

Just to prevent me from getting into troubles, what do you mean exactly with Sharpie? I'm not acquainted with the word.

A Sharpie is the brand name of a certain type of pen.

And almost any glossy 8x10 photo, with an autograph, is signed with a Sharpie.

Soundguys use them for labelling mixing console tape.
