Fleetwood Mac at the O2 Second Night Added

Great news MacHeads (or whatever Fleetwood Mac fans are called, although I do know 'MacHead' is the name of a rumoured lost Dave Matthews Band song), Fleetwood Mac will be playing a second night at Dublin's O2 on October 25th. Tickets for the show are on sale now, and may well sell out very quickly. Tickets range from 86-126 euro, but are definitely worth the admission fee.

[Does this mean that the Riptide will be the opening act for FM?]

From the Fingal Independent, 9-11-09

http://www.fingal-independent.ie/loc...a-1881583.html

Over the course of the two days, people who turn will be able to get advice from garden designers. There will also be seminars by some of Ireland's top horticulturists and there will also be 28 show gardens on display. On the Sunday, up and coming band, The Riptide Movement, who will be supporting Fleetwood Mac at the O2 will be performing.

Cant wait for the concert, not long to go now. I'm kinda thinking it would be real cool to have my Model 1 signed by Lindsey. However I would have no idea how to meet the band before or after the show. Where would the best place to go be to be in with a chance.
Probably the hotel they're staying in but i dont even know that.
Any Ideas??? If anyone knows its you guys.

A reader wrote into IrishTimes.com commenting on a Fleetwood Mac interview last Friday on the Dave Fanning show. But when I went to the radio station website (RTE 2fm http://2fm.rte.ie/fanning), I didn't see such an interview. They have posted a summary of Thursday's show. So maybe Friday's is coming.

This was the reader complaint, September 21, 2009:
http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/onth...-you-see-that/
Meanwhile on (no longer younger) sister station 2fm, the Dave Fanning show is really just the same old same old with dull topics (Beatles, pop fashion, bad guys in films) leading to bland discussions and not much to get stuck into. And I assume that Fleetwood Mac interview on Friday was a pre-record to give Dave a long weekend to finish off his book? Something for the new Head Boy (or Girl) to get stuck into - as well as looking at why bona-fide 25-44 year old crowd-pleasers like David Gray are not on the playlist. Then again, maybe this is a good thing.

Fleetwood Mac

Website: http://www.theo2.ie/event/fleetwood-mac/

Venue: The O2
The 02
Dublin
Price: 86.25

From: Oct 24, 2009 To: Oct 26, 2009

Description: Fleetwood Mac are back, with their best-selling line up featuring Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham

Since forming in 1967 the only thing about the group that hasn't changed is the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.
Through the '70s, the band shifted and changed with nearly every recording as Fleetwood Mac metamorphosed from a traditionalist British blues band to the maker of one of the best-selling pop albums ever - Rumours.
From that album's release in 1977 into the present, Fleetwood Mac has survived additional, theoretically key, personnel changes and yet remained a dominant commercial force.

Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 100 million copies of its albums - including 25 million for Rumours alone - making it one of the most popular rock bands in history, don't miss out on this rare outing for the band.

FLEETWOOD MAC
Unleashed 2009 Tour
The O2, Dublin
Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th October, 2009
Tickets: from 86.25 including booking fee on sale now

The Meath Chronicle, 10-7-09

http://www.meathchronicle.ie/plus/st...box-this-week/

What's on the Box this week:

'The 11th Hour' (RTE 2, Wednesday) - Dave Fanning is back with a brand new series bringing some of the hottest new music along with interviews from the biggest artists and specially recorded performances from some of the bands of the moment.

This week Fanning talks to Mick Fleetwood and Lyndsay Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac, who play a couple of sold-out shows in Dublin's O2 later this month. 'The 11th Hour' will also feature music from Bat For Lashes, Air and Julie Feeney, along with a report on the making of Lady Gaga's album. Actor Simon Delaney talks about his favourite music, plus there's live music from Irish band Codes and Adrian Crowley, whose album 'Season Of The Sparks' is one of the best of the year.

Getting all jittery and excited now ....
Still disappointed I haven't been lucky to pull better tickets, but I'm sure I'll stop caring once everything kicks off!
Would people be interested in a get-together before the show?

If you needed to describe the 1970s in two words, "Fleetwood Mac" would do pretty nicely. Some of this is down to what we know about the group outside the recording studio – all heavy relationship drama and era-defining drug problems. More significantly, the band put all this into their music, creating along the way a divorce rock triptych – their Fleetwood Mac, Rumours and Tusk albums – which brought sumptuous musical expression to the phrase "we need to talk about us". Most of the Mac's music still sounds great, a canon that will be faithfully revisited here by Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham – Christine McVie could not be tempted out again.
