Just like Julianne Moore who should have won an Oscar back in 1995.

Have a good time. I guess I'll see them in five more hours or so. Do they start at 7 or 8? It's okay, I'll find out, I'm sure. Oh, ****, I think I actually can't read this thread until later, I don't think I want spoilers on this one...

Oh, how could I have forgotten that?! She made that movie, IMO. Such a bitch but such a poor little creature. I'd be just like her if I had Roy Scheider for a pop.

Loved this little write-up in the local paper about best supporting actress:

"Here I sense a two-person race between Virginia Madsen and Cate Blanchett. Either could win, but Madsen would make the better story: Hard-working and popular for 20 years, she gets a role that allows her to shine and runs with it. On the other hand, audiences were much amused by Blanchett's eccentric turn as Katharine Hepburn. It's Madsen vs. Blanchett.

Prediction: Virginia Madsen
Preference: Virginia Madsen"

Garden State was one of the best flicks I've seen in a long time.

And that scene with MethodMan (or Redman, never have been able to tell 'em apart) and the hotel peepshow? I nearly died...

Damn do I love me some Boogie Nights. She was just spectacular in it.

Far From Heaven? Wow - talk about "being" the character, as opposed to an actor playing a character (like you said earlier, Diss.) Sean Penn's really good at that too, IMO.

I don't really care who/what wins tonight, I've only seen a few of the films nominated this time. And there are spoilers all over TV/radio/magazines this week, for some reason (jerks), so I may not even bother seeing Million Dollar Baby til it's out on DVD. I know nobody wants Jamie Foxx to win, but I do think he deserves it for Ray - forgot it was Jamie a few times, to be honest.

Other than that - eh. I'll just be checking out the clothes - stupid TV Guide Channel comes in really crappy at my house, but I will try to suffer through the snowy picture so I don't have to subject myself to Star's kiss-ass ramblings.

I HIGHLY recommend Million Dollar Baby. I had no desire to see it, ended up getting roped into it, and I was amazed. I actually wouldn't mind if Hillary Swank wins tonight because she was phenomenal. I want Sideways to win best picture, but I won't mind if this wins, either. Anyway, see it because you'll probably love it.

All I want is a Virginia Madsen win!

PS: Star is worse than ever. I tuned in and, my word, her face looks bovine. I wonder if she's had work done since last time.

I haven't seen either movie and am not qualified to comment. With that said, I'll comment anyway. I agree with you that Madsen should win. An actress playing an actress perhaps is not so much of a stretch? If you have a moment, can you describe Madsen's role? Thanks Diss.

no way i'm surviving that Kathy Griffin awake, besides, other than Natalie Portman (who's a local hero blah blah blah...) i really don't have any real favorites this year anyway.

Hilary Swank's dress? Oh.My.God.To.Die.For!!!

I usually don't think she's all that attractive, but she looks spectacular tonight! Black dress, high in front (which usually looks matronly, but not this time) and backless. Very classy, very sexy.

That Catalina chick looks great too. Nice white dress with beaded straps.

Laura Linney - not sure about that hair.

Scarlett Johansen - incredible hair, very old Hollywood (platinum blonde hair, red lips, black dress.)
