New bands sounding like Fleetwood Mac...
Got an invite from this band on my myspace account today, never heard of them, but I think they just sound very Fleetwood mac-ish. You can listen to a few of their songs here: myspace.com/new sense

I don't think they sound much like Mac, but I like that song well enough. I can spot perhaps a slight influence, if not a huge similarity in actual sound.
This is good music for today, it's casual and breezy sounding.

Hmmm...Idk if they sound much like FM exactly. It's a little less pop than FM. But I like them never the less!
However, since I found FM, I've been attracted to bands with the male/female equation to them. For instance, you all must check out The Forecast. And most of you know Rilo Kiley as well. |

Ok, I have been meaning to post clips from the band Fairechild, a band a friend of mine says reminds her of Fleetwood Mac. I think they just quote lots of seventies band, but they do have a nice male/female harmony thing going. The female singer often sounds a little like Chrissie Hynde. The guitar player was previously in a band called the Beachwood Sparks (Fleetwood Mac-ish name) and they especially had a California sound.
The keyboard player sometimes plays fender rhodes. A customer reviewer (Rick D. Moore "Music Geek") on Amazon says: It's tempting to refer to Fairechild as Fleetwood Mac for the 21st Century. But that only diminishes the efforts of Joshua Schwartz and Elisa Randazzo who while paying some homage to the Mac tunes of yesterday; also season their music with samplings all across the west coast sound of the Seventies. Randozzo's voice initially recalls Christine McVie on songs like "These Days" and "Enemies." But the subtle nuances of her voice and efforts of the band move these songs well past any musical clich to form a pleasant collection that will have all of us yearning for bright sunny days driving down the California coast or a starry night with a huge bonfire on a sandy beach. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endid=18449236 If MySpace is slow for you, like it is for me, then you can hear more samples at cdbaby.com

There was an article in People magazine a few weeks back, it said the country band Little Big Town sounds a lot like FM as well. There are 2 guys and 2 girls in the band that sing and they've all had a lot of drama in their lives, too, I guess.

"isn't it weird ?!" I don't know where it comes from, this "hm, reminds me of FM" feeling. Yeah, it's vague But I like them anyway.
thanks for the tips about the other bands, I'll check them out! (and get back on it once I have) |

Here's something to do..
Listen to the Pet Shop Boys song called 'Home and Dry'. The straight drum pattern, the harmonies in the chorus...not unlike 'Trouble', 'Gypsy' or 'Family Man'. They themselves said at the time that it was close to sounding too Fleetwood Mac-ish.. |

here's another nice band.. Field Music
I really like their new single In Context, it gets a lot of airplay on bbc6. Vague mac thing going on there maybe, well, they mention them in their myspace bio anyway. |

Shouldn't this be in Chit Chat?

Bet you don't listen to a lot of other music besides the Mac, then?

On the contrary. I have a rather large extensive music catalogue. Over 600 CDs. My Dad had over 3,000 CDs and LPs that I had access to growing up. I have read and heard over the years about Fleetwood Mac being influences on certain bands. I think the Mac has a distinct sound, and out of my own semi-fountain of useless music knowledge (which has been acknowledged by other, much older fountains of useless music knowledge-ers) I cant think of anyone that has their sound...not even close.

I don't know how many titles I have in my collection (500-1000?), but I guess I just have different ones
Check out Midlake's latest, the last cd from Death Cab for Cutie, and Field Music. The more I listen to them, the more they sound like the mac indeed. Their drummer especially! A song called Pieces, sounds like it belongs on Kiln House. |
